Estate lawyers

Anyone have good recommendations for an estate law firm?

Currently having a bad experience with my current attorney. Bellomo seems promising but always see them advertising so I wonder if they’re any good.

Doesn’t matter where in York. I live near Dover and Manchester but I’ll drive anywhere in York for the right firm!

Help me help you

I’m an event manager at Splitshift in downtown York, and also a constant user of this subreddit. Over my time being on this subreddit I think the most common thing I see is people struggling to make friends in the area as adults, not a lot of things to do or places to meet other people also looking for friends, people being new the area, a plethora of reasons. And I totally get it. It IS hard to make new friends as an adult. I’d love to try to come up with an event that’s targeted towards adults meeting new people.

With that being said I’d love to hear straight from you guys what you would want from an event that caters to and is based around meeting new people. What would make you comfortable to mingle with strangers? What activity would you want to do if any? Open to ideas!

I’d also love to hear what other events you feel like York is missing! We are very lgbtq+ friendly, a place for kindness and fun, and would love to do more events and things that help bring the community together one way or another!

Yorkfest 2026?

Does anyone know if they're having the art festival this year? I know its usually the last weekend in August, but I tried looking it up, the AI answer of course doesn't actually give accurate information, its pulling from articles from years prior. I can't find anything from this year about it.

The debut of Bill Hader's recurring "Greg the Alien" character. One of his all time best bits on the show. (S34 E17)

Horror

I’ve lived in the area a good few years. But work a ton so I don’t get out to see much of what York has. Is there anything horror related that’s fun to do?

Daycare recommendations?

Anyone have recommendations for daycares in Dallastown/Queen street/east York? Some have terrible Google reviews. I don’t mind getting on a waitlist if it’s the right place. Need all day care for a 2.5 year old and possibly 5 year old doing another year of prek. Thanks!

Wedding DJ help

Looking for advice on getting started as a wedding DJ
Hey everyone! I’m looking to start getting into wedding DJing and could use some advice from people who have already been doing it.
I have experience DJing and I’m comfortable with the music/equipment side, but the wedding business side is pretty new to me. My biggest question is: how did you land your first few weddings?
I’d love advice on things like:

Where you advertise or find couples looking for DJs

Whether sites like WeddingWire/The Knot are worth it when you’re starting out

How you built a portfolio before having weddings under your belt

What you charged for your first few weddings

Anything you wish you knew before DJing you’re first wedding

I’m not looking to jump in unprepared. I want to learn the wedding side of the business, put together a professional setup, and make sure couples are getting a great experience.
Any advice on getting those first 5–10 bookings would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hazard Parking

I'm new here. I've never lived in a city before and I moved here a few weeks ago. So please, somebody tell me if I'm taking crazy pills.

I have seen several instances of someone driving in the road and then just dropping their anchor and putting on the hazard lights... in the middle of the street. I had seen it multiple times, but today I had it happen right in front of me. Someone's driving along, and then they just stop in the middle of the road (in front of a traffic light), put on their hazards, shift to park, and say "I stop here now." Then, everybody behind them gets to play a fun game of Schrodinger's head-on collision.

This is clearly illegal obstruction, is it just not being policed? I assume these are mostly rideshares or food deliveries, so does anybody know if there are any campaigns to get lawmakers to put pressure on these apps to decrease the incentive of hazard parking or increase the incentive to actually park legally?

Hi! I am a medical student that will be visiting York, PA from Aug 22 to Sept 19 to work in the ED at WellSpan. I need a place to stay while I am there and if anybody has a spare room, I am happy to rent it. I am happy to find a time to do a video interview if you'd like. I'm a 32 y/o M, good house guest, enjoy hiking, trying new food, cycling, and meeting new people! Please let me know if you have any questions!
