Visa approved!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧

Hi, just got my visa approval yesterday! here’s timeline

VFS Location: Seoul
Application type: standard
Application submission: 8th Aug
Biometrics : 12th Aug
Visa approval : 18th Aug

I know my visa was granted super fast, especially for standard applications, but the whole week felt so long like few months. At the same time, i was shocked my application took less than a week, despite of standard applications. Anyway, I’m so happy I got my chance to study in UK!!
I hope everyone in this sub gets the approval email soon and able to study in UK ( you guys almost get there)

Chance of getting a student visa

I’m currently applying for a UK Student visa and I’m looking for some advice/reassurance from people familiar with UK immigration.
I’m a South Korean citizen and have been accepted to a UK university for an undergraduate degree. I have received my CAS and have now submitted my Student visa application and completed my biometrics.
The main thing I’m concerned about is a previous US immigration issue.
In May 2025, I attempted to enter the United States from Mexico. During the inspection, US CBP found medication that I had purchased in Mexico legally from local pharmacy but without the appropriate prescription/documentation. I was refused entry and voluntarily left the US. I was not charged or convicted of a criminal offence, and I did not receive a formal criminal record from the incident.
Prior to this, I had held a US student visa for several years and had travelled to the US multiple times without immigration problems.
After leaving the US, I travelled to Mexico and later returned to South Korea. I am now applying to study in the UK.
I have been completely honest about my previous US immigration history in my UK visa application and supporting statement. I’m particularly concerned about whether UKVI could interpret the US entry refusal as evidence that I’m not a genuine student or that I may not comply with UK immigration rules.
My UK course is a genuine undergraduate degree, I have a CAS, and I have accommodation arranged in the UK.
For anyone familiar with UK Student visas:
How seriously would UKVI generally view a previous US entry refusal like this?
Could a US immigration issue involving possession of medication affect a UK Student visa application even if there was no criminal conviction?
Does being refused entry to the US automatically create concerns about the applicant’s credibility/genuine student requirement?
Has anyone had a similar situation with a previous US immigration/entry issue and subsequently obtained a UK visa?
I’m mainly trying to understand whether this is something I should realistically be worried about or whether I’m overthinking it.

any transfer chances?

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this post because I’m trying to figure out whether I still have a realistic chance to transfer to a good university and rebuild my academic path after struggling badly at my previous school.

Background:
I attended George Washington University for about 3 years as a Finance major/Economics minor. Academically, things went very poorly for me toward the end of my time there. I ended up getting academically suspended during my last semester.

My GPA is around a 2.1, and I have multiple Fs on my transcript. I attempted about 75 credits total, but only earned around 54 credits successfully.

After taking time away from school, I’ve realized I genuinely want to restart and take academics seriously. I know my GWU transcript and suspension will always remain part of my record, which is why I’m worried about whether transferring to a strong school is still possible.

Right now, I’m considering attending a California community college (most likely for around 2 years) for two reasons:

  1. GWU requires me to complete a semester elsewhere with good grades before I can even be considered for re-enrollment.
  2. I’m wondering whether getting excellent grades at a CC (hopefully close to a 4.0) could realistically give me transfer opportunities to good universities despite my past record.

I know I can’t erase my old transcript, but I’m hoping admissions officers might look at strong upward improvement, maturity, and consistent performance over time.

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who transferred after academic suspension, rebuilt their GPA at a CC, or successfully got into strong schools after a rough start.

Is there realistically still a path forward for someone in my situation?
