I have dell R730xd, 2x E5-2680 v4, 8x 32GB Dual rank 2400 MHz RAM.

All works, I see 56 cores, 256gb RAM.

I wanted to save some power, removed CPU2. It booted up, complained at POST for changed RAM configuration (256>128), all works as expected. Something like 30-40W less for my daily load.

Now a day later I moved ram slots from B1-B4 to A5-A8. I want to have single CPU and 256 GB RAM.

Bios boots, checks for ram, takes some time, then says Memory OK, and resets.

I filled in only A1-A6, same matter.

Did I miss something?

update " I moved ram slots from B1-B4 to A5-A8. " mean I had A1-A4 and B1-B4, I left ram in A1-A4 and moved from B1-B4->A5-A8

I have 13kWp solar panels and sungrow inverter. I wanted some batteries, got sungrow hybrid 8kw next to it. It was working fine for 2 months, then it stopped, then due to lack of installer`s competence they cannot replace the inverter for 3 months. I am going to return the solution.

Now I still want batteries, I realized that it can be two different models working together.

what brand/solution would you recommend?

It is enough for me to have 7-10kw hybrid inverter, I can keep old one (non hybrid) and split solar power, or replace everything.

I want to have:

• local telemetry/control. MQTT, modbus, rs232.. whatever that works.
• possibility to use it as backup power. 3kw would be enough, but full house is nicer.
• not manufacturer tied solution, as much as it is possible. is going 48V battery a good idea?

Can you share your experience what brands are good and which ones should I avoid? Is it better to go with HV or 48V battery for power user solution?

One of alesis nitro mesh cymbals started to work inconsistently (very non linear). I opened it up, closed it down, worked again for a week. I think I need to replace the sensor.

Which sensor and where to order? Does it matter, or should I get one by size?

Gyvenu užsienyje, planuoju grįžti atostogoms į Lietuvą. Neseniai pakeičiau automobilį į EV. Važinėsiu +/- Klaipėda - Kaunas - Jonava - Anykščiai - Vilnius.

Kaip šiais laikais situacija su EV krovimu Lietuvoje? Ko man reikia (appso, sutarties...), kad galėčiau pasikrauti šiuose miestuose ar pakeliui?
Kadangi tai trumpas laikotarpis, greitas krovimas/patogumas man svarbiau už geriausią kainą (proto ribose).

Namie kraunu garaže + turiu ionity accountą, jie turi 3 greitas stoteles Lietuvoj.

p.s. prašyčiau be kažkokių komentarų apie tai kaip blogai/gerai/kvaila važinėti su power banku. Jei norite kažką padiskutuoti, paklausti nesusijusio su krovimu, aš apačioje palieku komentarą offtopic. rašykit atsakydami į jį, bus mažiau netvarkos.

so I was stepping out of the car, my kid opened window, 10 went down. we went out, window is open. How should I close it?

- key forb does not close rear windows

- button on rear door does not work (unless car started)

- button in front does not work (unless car started).

do I really need to go in and start the car to close the window?

I want a tablet. Will not play games, cheap one will do it. Should work for several years, the longer the better (updates and hw).

Will be used for home control console (homeassistant) and multimedia by kids.

Will take it for the trips to use for maps, reading etc, but I dont travel that much.

Will not do side-loading and hacking on it.

Can be apple, but I dont have much of apple products at home. Ant it must be USB-C then.

any alternatives I should look for? Can I find cheaper alternatives? are those good/bad choices? used market can work too, any good models there?

I have 6-8 cameras, frigate runs in VM inside old enterprise gear (R730).
without proper decoder it pulls extra 70w for trans-coding detection and still struggles to keep up.

with coral TPU it goes down to normal levels, but transcoding still consumes likes 8 cores, not sure why? Maybe to feed data into TPU? I added GPU with pass through (which is limited on R730), everything started to run smoothly. But then my server just restarts out of blue like every second day.

This is proxmox -> VM -> docker(frigate). it is not easy to kill host machine. I am out of ideas, it is very nice, but it needs dedicated somehow modern machine to run.

Can someone recommend off-shelf NVR that could do somehow decent job, and then could passtrough streams to frigate when I am ready to fight it again? Most of the (better ones) cameras I have are reolink.

I love how it works, I love the project, but currently it consumes too much power to be justified with EU electricity prices 😞
