taking my toddler on the OHSU tram, tips for making a fun morning of it?

hey all. planning to take my toddler on the aerial tram bc im pretty sure shes gonna lose her mind over it (the good kind). no hospital appt or anything, just wanna do it for the experience and build a chill little morning around it.

did some homework already so i know its closed for maintenance til the 26th, round trip is like $8.75ish, and the ride itself is pretty short. my rough plan is park at the Rood garage, go up around midday to avoid the commuter rush, then hit Elizabeth Caruthers Park and maybe grab pizza at Andiamo after.

couple things i could use local help with:

  • whats the calmest day/time with a little kid. is a weekday midday actually fine or is saturday way more mellow?
  • anything worth doing at the top besides the observation deck?
  • is the splash pad at caruthers usually running by late may/june? trying to figure out if i need to pack a change of clothes lol
  • any stroller tips for the tram cars or getting around south waterfront in general?
  • toddler friendly spots down in south waterfront im not thinking of?

thanks in advance

I need to drop my car off for some repairs and leave it there for a few hours, but the timing is tight with some work meetings. I'm looking for a coffee shop where I could take a few phone calls without bothering everybody. Do you have any good recommendations? I was even thinking about taking a small office at WeWork, but it's not close by.
