My first Howling Griffon

My first Howling Griffon

Went to my local Warhammer shop today as they had their anniversary today.

I went in to get the badges and pick up some other stuff so I could get all the goodies.

They had a little secret level game where you played as Titus and had to try and kill as many cultists as you could in one turn ( I managed 10 out of 20).

And they also had a 15 minute painting challenge. As I want to paint up my Angels of Death Killteam as Howling Griffons I thought fuck it let's do it.

I also used the new pro tone paints. I think there pretty decent great if your just starting out. I particularly like the extended drying time for them and the fact you can just use them out of the pot directly.

I think I did an ok job for 15 minutes.

Starter Gangs Done

All done, not my best work but I wanted to get them painted so we can start doing learner games.

I have a box of Cawdor I'm going to put more effort into.

First Gang Painted

So I've painted up my first gang from the new box.

Not sure if I want to give them an oil wash. I quite like that they are bright.

Picking up Starter box

So I'm going to be getting the new box this weekend.

This will be the first time I've got back into the game since the first edition.

Are there any start playing guides and other resources that will make it a bit easier to start playing.

Just added an old picture of my original models I still have.

Starting out with Chaos Knights.

So I picked up a Chaos Knight a while ago and the Hound Pack Lance box.

I'm getting close to being able to start up building and painting. But I don't know what I would add.

I'm looking for more big Knights but as there quite expensive I don't want to get anything that's going to be mehh.

I just need some ideas. Don't want to touch the forge world kits as they just seem a knightmare to build.

Pic for attention.

Clestian Indisants killteam

Clestian Indisants killteam.

Paint scheme inspired by Hello Kitty/Sailor Moon girly pop.

Had a lot of fun painting these lots of new techniques used. Always normally skipped edge highlights as I wasn't very good at them.

But you never get better at stuff if you just avoid it. These have been painted for the @killteamlancashire tournament @harlequinsgames on the 01/08.

Hopefully getting my first game with them tomorrow.

Working on Bases

I've done some bases for my Hello Kitty/Sailor Moon themed Celestian Insidiants.

Tried a sponge method but it wasn't working so swapped to airbrush.

Really pleased with how these came out. Going to be adding a few more gold specs to make them pop.

Struggling to find the fun

So I've been playing for about a year. And when I first started it was new and exciting and I was enjoying playing the game and building and painting.

The thing is I've not improved at all in the aspect of the game. I seem to be constantly losing and I can't seem to turn it around.

It probably doesn't help that the club I play at has some of the best players in the UK and the rest are all tournament players.

People keep telling me to keep playing and it will eventually click. But I'm finding it ruff as it's no fun to get constantly beaten and the game to not even be close in terms of points.

I really enjoy the social side of the game. People always compliment my models and I love chatting about painting after the games which is keeping me going.

I'm just looking for advice on how I can turn this around. As I don't have this issue with 40k.

Picture for attention I did come third place in our rookie rumble and won best painted. But it's all been downhill from there.
