How much to save each month?

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how much money I should be saving each month after funding retirement, paying all monthly bills/costs, and spending my monthly "fun money." I also budget for expected yearly costs each month (oil changes, Christmas gifts, car property taxes, union dues, contact lenses, etc.)

I have a 6-month emergency fund, a separate home emergency fund with 4% of the home value, a car emergency fund of $10,000, and a 1-year health deductible fund. (if you combined all of these categories, it's about a 1-year emergency fund)

I know people recommend saving some money each year for eventual home repairs (a new roof would single-handedly eat most of the current home e-fund). I have enough left over each month to put away 2% of the home's value each year into savings. However, that would leave me with basically nothing else.

Should I be aiming to save more than this? Should I consistently be adding to these emergency funds? Are there other things I should be funding aside from these? Is my budget too tight?

[Discussion] Price for a near top of the line gaming PC

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a near top of the line gaming PC and I'm wondering what I can expect to pay. For example, I don't think I need a 5090 for my gaming needs, but I could go one tier below that (4090? 5080? etc?). What's the current gaming PC meta and what's the price?

Hello,

I'm in my early 30s and am trying to wrap my head around retirement. Assuming I get my full pension benefits, I will be paid at 60% of my pre-retirement income. However, there is no cost of living adjustment so this amount will be less impressive each year. Even if it had a COLA I'd have to save a bit more to reach the 70-80% replacement that people generally recommend, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to calculate or account for my pension not having a COLA. I currently earn about 80k and have just started contributing $600 a month into a Roth IRA. If there was a COLA I assume this would be enough, but without it I have no idea.
