Help reading a pattern!
Hello!
I am relatively new to knitting and am attempting this pattern for my nephew (size 6/12mos). image above, found HERE.
I am confused about the beginning, because if I do as they say at the start, then the *K2, P2* will not line up, as row 1 and 2 aren't opposites, so the ribbing won't look ribbed like the photo, but will look like big seed stitch? Then I thought, maybe it's supposed to be knit in the round, but then the starting/ending stitch will be weird, and also later it says to cast off and sew center back seam.
Now i'm thinking there's a typo?
Later also, after the first set of ribbing, there's a K3, P2, K2 which would match the K, *K2, P2.* from above..
So I'm thinking it's the second row, P1, *K2, P2*... that's mixed up, and it should be P1 *P2, K2*...
Anyway. I'm feeling a bit anxious to just assume there's a typo.
Is that right?
Also, seems weird to want K3? wouldn't that ruin the ribbing pattern?
help! Anyone with more experience with patterns and hats understand what's going on?
