Why isn't there a UPI payment method backed by your mutual fund portfolio for daily spending?
Genuine question.
I spend about 40-50K a month on regular stuff — groceries, fuel, rent, bills, subscriptions, dining out. Normal life.
My options right now:
→ Bank balance (runs low by the 20th every month)
→ Credit card (convenient until you miss one full payment — then 36-42% APR kicks in)
→ Instant loan apps (half reject you, or have a very strict repayment policy charge 18-24%)
Meanwhile I have 5-7L sitting in mutual funds Growing every day. But completely useless for daily spending unless I sell them
What if there existed a type of credit like:
An on-demand UPI credit line that's just backed by the mutual funds you already own.
→ You don't sell your investments. You just pledge them as collateral.
→ Your funds keep growing at 12-15% in the background.
→ You instantly get a UPI credit limit to scan and pay anywhere.
→ 30-45 days interest-free to pay back — exactly like a credit card or Convert to EMI at ~12% p.a.
→ No CIBIL needed. Your portfolio IS your credit score.
Not an emergency loan. Not a LAMF that sends money to your bank account and takes hours.
Just everyday scan-and-pay funded by your own wealth
Does anything like this exist for retail investors? It feels like we are punishing people for saving their money instead of spending it.
