Everyone talks about data hoarding, but what about data playback?

Let's say I have a wedding video on my PC. And let's say I want to keep all copies local - I don't want to upload it to the cloud for my own privacy/personal reasons.

How and where do you store it to maximize both safety and ease of playback on a TV?

My personal answer to this is to burn Blu-ray discs and play them using my BD player, but with optical media on its way out, surely there must be another newer way?

How do you assess the price of equipment when shutting down?

I'm planning on shutting down my small restaurant soon, we have a griddle, a deep fryer, coolers, etc. and have someone who may be interested in buying our equipment and furniture, but I want to make sure I'm getting a fair price.

Should I ask someone to come and assess the value of our FFE? In Google, I found a company called TagEx Brands, should I reach out to them and ask them to come in for an assessment? Has anyone worked with TagEx? Or should I just haggle with the person who's interested in buying?

Edit: The gist I'm getting is, I'm lucky if someone's even willing to buy it. Thanks guys!

Is this diagram ATCOR?

https://preview.redd.it/l1nno2jjy1eh1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=d71bd1e7f81523c0c0db3bf9ebd3ce7fe91359f4

I was watching Nimesh's latest video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3olcPRDGLW0) and saw this diagram. Is this an example of ATCOR? If it is, it would be great if someone with more artistic skill than me could make a clean up version of this to show how all these different taxes have to be made up in order to fill the gap by not taxing land properly.

How confidential or public should a restaurant closure be?

If I have a highly rated and semi-busy restaurant but I'm planning on closing my restaurant in 1-2 months, should I make an announcement that we're closing to try to drum up last minute business from people who've been meaning to come but just procrastinating?

Or do I want to keep that confidential and just close down one day?

Does it depend on if I have someone buying the restaurant? There is a buyer who's interested in keeping the staff and changing the concept.

I've seen it done both ways. This restaurant made an announcement about 6 weeks before closing (and many reviews and redditors have commented how they were meaning to go there and now they have a reason to not procrastinate): https://la.eater.com/restaurant-closings/302754/seafood-destination-connie-teds-will-close-after-more-than-a-decade-in-west-hollywood

But I've definitely gone to my local Italian place only to find it suddenly closed one day. It was replaced by a different ethnic restaurant a month later.

How do you determine what services should charge a fee and what should be free?

When it comes to public transit, I've gone down a fare enforcement rabbit hole. One side says fare is important to keep transit funded and to make sure riders are using transit for its intended purpose. Another side says fare is important in order to solve inequity.

And it seems like throughout the world, the pro-fare group is winning.

But what about, say, libraries? Why don't we charge a small fee for checking out a book? Or why did most libraries get rid of late fees? Or maybe have a monthly subscription model?

I know it sounds silly, but I'm wondering if there is some underlying theory here as to what public services are appropriate to charge for at the point of use, and what services should be free at the point of use?

LA Metro is a Front Row Seat to LA's Biggest Problems

The video is not just about transit, but also about fare enforcement and poor land use and how tax policy makes housing so expensive. At the end he goes on a rant about how the biggest issue with LA isn't how bad the transit is, it's how bad the land use is. Honestly, the story is told through a satisfying narrative arc, bookended by Careless Whisper lol.
