My (25f) boyfriend (24m) ex girlfriend messaged him recently asking to catch up with him and meet me in the process. Their relationship was short lived (on and off for a few months in college) and decided to stay loose friends. I say loose friends because they don’t really talk very much at all unless she texts him out of the blue with month long gaps in between.

I personally don’t have any interest in meeting her, but my boyfriend has been insistent of us getting lunch with her. I tried telling him that I feel like it’s weird for his current girlfriend to meet his ex girlfriend even if they’re just friends now, but he told me that he feels bad that he keeps blowing her off when she tries to make plans, and he feels that she’s been respectful and just wants to meet me. He also said that he’ll only go to the lunch if I come with him.

The whole thing just feels very weird to me.
I personally don’t have experience with being friends with ex’s cause I dated some real shitty people in the past, so maybe I’m just overthinking things and feeling weird about it for no reason? Any thoughts and insight would be nice.

TLDR; Boyfriend has been insisted on us to getting lunch with his ex despite me not really wanting to go.
