S8 Episode 10

This episode was so pointless. The whole looking for Spencer was ridiculous. And the one random guy knowing Coop’s music made me roll my eyes. I really dislike Coop and do not understand why this season has focused on her so much.

Tight End Michael Mayer

His butt looked amazing in the Raiders game. He’s sexy, too.

Women Centered

I love the Bold and Beautiful! I have for many years. But what has happened to this show being women centered? A character like Elektra is more likely to be seen on the Young and the Restless where the men are fighting over a damsel in distress (e.g. Nikki Newman or Sharon Newman/Abbott).

For years, strong women like Stephanie, Brooke, Taylor, Jackie Marone, Steffy, and Hope have driven the narrative and strategically got what they wanted. The consistent punching and fighting of the male characters is something seen more regularly on the Young and the Restless.

It should be Elektra and Dylan fighting to gain more status in Forrester with a hidden agenda or Elektra using Will’s loyalty and devotion to undermine Logan’s jewelry line to make hers succeed.

2026 Where We Are in Film

Below is an excerpt from **GLAAD CEO and President Sarah Kate Ellis’ “**Film Studios are Leaving Money on the Table by Failing to Invest in LGBTQ Stories”:

“Yet, we continue to see decreases year-over-year in multiple categories. The overall percentage of films is down to 20.4%, a 28% decrease in percentage of inclusive films in just three years from the record high 28.5% of films in our 2023 study. Further, the majority of LGBTQ characters appeared in smaller roles. The number of characters has decreased year over year from 181 to 112, and it is worth noting some specific drops.”

Lack of Gay TV Shows

Sigh. One of the things that I used to look forward to was a series starring gay characters coming out during Pride Month. I was forced to revisit Love, Victor because of the void. There was Love, Victor, And Just Like That (not a gay show per se, but it did have Anthony and his gay, hung lover and his Hot Fellas bakery), and Glamorous.

Correct me if I just haven’t heard of anything, but why haven’t there been more shows cranked out after Heated Rivalry? TV executives have to see that there is a market for gay/queer content.

Futbolista

Futbolista
Autor: Jonny Garza Villa

A classmates-to-friends-to-lovers romance that's equal parts raunchy, heartfelt, queer, and Mexican-American, centered on college football (the REAL football)!

I really enjoyed this book and wish that it would be made into a live action series. It would be so good. We keep getting straight college romances. One between two Latinos in Corpus Christi would be amazing and outside of the box.

Opinion | We’re in a Golden Age of Queer Literature

This is a great article about how gay fiction was once deemed niche and would not sell to it now having sales of more than $80 million dollars. I found some good recommendations like “Fruit Fly” by. Josh Silver and “All Them Dogs” by. Djamel White

Book Recommendation

I enjoyed the book. I really liked Jaime and Jordan’s relationship. Here is the gist of it:

A second-chance, M/M romance novel about event planner Jordan Carter, who must work with his teenage first kiss and heartbreak, Jamie Peters, on a high-profile wedding. The story follows their rekindled relationship amidst wedding planning, exploring themes of identity, self-discovery, and timing as Jordan navigates his sexuality and past feelings for Jamie. It's a heartfelt, slow-burn romantic comedy with a large cast of supportive characters, praised for its emotional depth and relatable struggles.

Pride Month- Characters Whose Stories Ended Too Early

For Pride Month, I’m going to highlight some of the gay characters that whose stories never got their proper ending. For example, Marco Galvez from All-American. Marco is a five-star running back who is openly gay who is recruited by Spencer for GAU (Golden Angeles University).

He appeared in another episode. He was out and the football team wanted to make him a poster boy for gay football players. In his last episode, he’s at GAU on the field for practice. Nothing about him being gay, having a boyfriend, or how the pressure to be a student athlete, Latino, and gay. All-American dropped the ball on this storyline.

Pride Month -Characters Whose Stories Ended Too Early

For Pride Month, let’s highlight gay characters whose stories never got their proper ending. For example, Walt Reynolds from The Carrie Diaries. His story about being gay in high school in the 80s had so much more to tell. How were the 90s for him?
