I am a teacher in the DOE, and saw a job posted on Open Market in a school I was interested in. The job was posted on 07/02 and it’s not there anymore. Just curious as to how was a position filled over the holiday weekend with the demo and all? Or was it just posted so that someone specific can apply?

I am a DOE teacher and ready to hit the open market because I will be moving to a different neighborhood during this summer.
I polished my resume and searched OM today but did not get a chance to write my cover letter yet. Is it important to include one? I am itching to start applying for the jobs as I want to be strategic and not miss the boat while the jobs are available. Or maybe it’s better to spend more time tailoring cover letters to each school even at the expense of applying for jobs at a slower pace?
