OBD1 Airbag Light

1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. Airbag light flashing at constant rate. Aware of counting flash pattern to get a code on these vehicles but it always flashes at a constant rate with no pauses.

3 mechanics tried to diagnose it to no avail. Learned that paper click jumping terminals is only for EEC module for check engine codes but the airbag diagnostic module is its own thing. Plugging in a OBD1 ford scanner shows check engine codes but it “cannot establish communication with airbag diagnostic module.”

So paper clip trick doesn’t work, no flash patterns to decipher code, OBD1 scanner can’t talk to airbag module. Already checked under seat connectors and they’re fine.

I’m completely lost as to what to do because I know nothing about airbags, I know it could be some sensors or the module itself or wiring or even clock spring but idk how to even go about diagnosing it. What would you recommend? Taking it to the dealership would be my last option because they’ll probably charge me an arm and a leg.

Thanks for the help in advance.

▲ 4 r/tires

Hey yall, in the process or restoring a classic car for the first and OEM tires are whitewalls. I’ve been buying Michelins and Pirellis only on my bikes and cars for the past 10 years and never once looked at other brands so had no idea what to look for.

After some searching it seems like the only reputable brand that still makes white wall tires is Coker which socializes in classic cars but I can’t justify spending $1200 on a set of tires when that’s what I spend on a set of tires for track events.

These are the only 4 modern radial construction white wall tires I can find that are cheaper. I know they’re Chinese brands and aren’t Michelin quality, but most people who’ve had them said they were perfectly fine aside from shorter lifespan and mileage rating which im ok with. Just wondering if they’re safe and what’s a good option.

I don’t need 3peak mountain or any snow/rain rating as it doesn’t snow or even rain much where I am. I’m ok with 40k miles rating instead of 60k. I’m ok with lower speed rating as I will never be going over 85 in this car. Just need it to be safe. Which would you pick? Thanks in advance.

TLDR: first time shopping for white wall tires, not much options, Coker is the only reputable brand but as expensive as Michelins, found the only other 4 cheaper options. Need to pick one that is safest.

Update: nvm guys the Nexens are a no go because it’s 75R15 and I need 70R15. :(
