For context i own a 2016 R1200GS LC, bought new. Due to circumstances beyond my control only has about 30k km’s. Kept the bike cause i still love it and ride it when i can.

Now recently when riding an audible metallic rattling appeared when around 3-4k rpm. Went to the dealer to have it checked out. Most likely a crankshaft is close to giving out. No way to tell without opening the engine block, which is a huge cost in its own only to diagnose, this does not include replacement parts, labour etc. Props to the mechanic, he was very honest and said the repairs were probably more then the bike is still worth.

Very dissapointed tbh cause all i hear is the boxer engine is basicly bulletproof and lasts a lifetime. Guess i got the odd duck.
