Can you ask for no morphine?

In the past, I have had negative reactions to morphine. It feels like a cinder block to my head. When I had 4 surgeries in 5 years, I was able to tell my surgeons that I preferred a different pain medication due to morphine causing me extreme headaches. But, it's been 20 years since I last had any surgery. There is so much that has changed within the medical community. Is it okay to tell your surgeon that you would prefer no morphine? Is it okay to say what has worked better in the past?

Need to be off for 4 weeks

I will be having surgery soon that will require a total of 4 weeks off tirz. Problem is, I don't know the date of surgery yet, and I need to open a new vial. There is a chance it could be scheduled for mid-June. That would mean I open a vial, use it for two weeks, and then have to take a 4 week break. Or, should I try to order a small vial?

I really don't want to waste anything. This stuff isn't cheap! But is a 4 week break going to negatively affect the rest of the contents?

Well water in rental home, best pitcher filter

We have lived in our rental for several years. Friend of a friend type situation, with no contract or rental association. We have well water that is very fragrant when hot in the shower or washing machine.

We've been driving to a location to buy water. They sell it by the gallon. We refill containers and bring them home. They recently increased the price again (3rd time in 18 months) and it is making me wonder if we can't figure out a filter type situation. Something temporary/changeable, preferably a filter in a pitcher or container.

I hate the taste of the water from the tap!! Is there any way to get the water from the tap to taste as pure as the water from the water selling place without installing some housewide or wellwide system?

Extreme lower back pain

Everyday. Every single day, my lower back is 9 or 10 for pain. It starts in the night, makes it to where I can barely move in the morning, and lasts until I can take enough ibuprofen to help ease the pain. Does anybody else experience this? It doesn't seem to be linked to bleeding or bowel movements, though some days there is correlation. I'm seeing a skilled surgeon, but have no idea how long I'll have to wait for surgery.

I have tried a variety of stretches (none seem to help, but a couple have made things worse). I have tried sleeping with a pillow between my knees (I'm a side sleeper). I have tried waking up in the middle of the night to take a muscle relaxer so the morning isn't as bad (doesn't always even work). I have worn lidocaine patches to bed and/or during the day.

I can usually get by, but some days I am purely exhausted from living in/functioning through pain. Is there anything I can do to help this pain? Or do I just need to suck it up until a surgery is approved?
