Is a PE license/ working towards it worth it??
Hello. Im looking for advice about the PE license in general and couldn’t find a more specific place to ask.
Looking into it, my engineering degree/program is recognized in canada. Im a chemist and did nanotechnology engineering. All my experience has been in material design research. I came to Canada to do a masters in biomedical engineering, where I did more research in a hospital to design health-related stuff. I graduated six months ago and Ive been looking for a jobs with no luck so far. I had decided to hold on until Dec, and if I have not landed a minimally decent job,I was going to go back home.
Now Im considering holding on for a bit and working towards getting the PEng reqs. I have some questions and I would be very thankful for any opinion.
Is it worth it economically? How many years realistically would it take in the current job market? Would there even be jobs for a Nanotechnology Engineer? Can I work other engineering jobsapart from specifically nanotech? Can I get a PEng in Biomedical eng with my masters? I am a woman, kind of used to men being more prominent in these fields, would this be something for me to consider here??
I would appreciate any advice!! Thank you
