Idk if this is a hot take but This still has been frustrating me
Tales of the empire has already been a huge let down of a show, and one of my biggest disappointments has to be bariss.
I have been anticipatingly waiting for 10 or more years to see what they will do with her character.
I’ve always thought they will set her up being a potential rival inquisitor to Ahsoka, filling a role of either the crow or marrok.
I mean, considering she willingly did so many messed up things, including, betraying Ashoka and basically ruining her whole life and all that, it would have made a great but tragic story about two rivals who were once friends.
But no, instead she suddenly became a softy who’s hesitant of killing anyone.
Even struggling to fight the grand inquisitor, as if she isn’t the same person who beat up Ashoka and ventress and held her own against Anakin.
I get what they were trying to do by redeeming her, by having her become a healer like she was in lore.
But the limited 3 episodes and the execution is so poorly done.
I can definitely see reasons for her for quitting the empire.
But there has to be more development than that, sure she had noble intentions, but her actions and methods are no better from count Dooku, she didn’t even seem ashamed of it, so is strange seeing her act so soft suddenly, and the lack of episodes makes it seem like she quit at day 1.
It’s like if Dooku became a sith and suddenly acts all genuinely sweet and friendly and doesn’t want to be with the separatists anymore.
I do like the idea that she talks softly and kindly to gain someone’s trust, but besides that she act too genuinely Nice for someone who committed Mass murder and betrayal
have Bariss genuinely believe what she’s doing as a inquisitor is the right thing for keeping the peace in the galaxy, but over the years she realizes the inquisitors are no better from the Jedi if not worse.
That probably could have worked as a story of her character.
But what do y’all think? Do y’all think I’m right or am I just overreacting?
