Zerospace should offer multiple different RTS game modes for it's multiplayer.

The multiplayer for Zerospace is a smash hit for some, but for others it drives them away due to overcomplexity and readability.

Adding alternative RTS game modes to Zerospace would help attract new players, keep existing players invested in the game, grow the community, and justify consumer purchase investment.

Zerospace did a excellent job casting a wide net into the RTS community/genre, but it needs to firmly establish itself in the niches and subniches for the long term success and growth.

> 1) Traditional

  • No Mercenaries
  • No Towers
  • No Hero Units.

This is the core foundation of Zerospace, it should be able to stand on it's own without anything extra on top of it.

A pure authentic RTS gameplay experience, where all the Zerospace races can shine as they are.

> 2) Traditional Hero

  • No Mercenaries.
  • No Towers.

The core foundation of Zerospace, but with the Hero Units. It should be able to stand on it's own.

Another pure authentic RTS gameplay experience, where all the Zerospace races and the Hero Units can shine as they are.

> 3) Hero Units Only

  • No Mercenaries.
  • No Regular Units.

All Zerospace Hero Units vs All Zerospace Hero Units.

> 4) Mercenaries Only

  • No Hero Units.
  • No Regular Units.

All Zerospace Mercenaries vs All Zerospace Mercenaries.

5.0.16 was pushed to live prematurely and untested for Douyu Cup 2026.

This is shocking, you all need to read this:

How is this not massive news around the entire SC2 community?.

If you want to know why Zerg got that game breaking Larva spawn change in 5.0.16 and why 5.0.16 was pushed out so quick with no testing after PTR2 before all these major SC2 tournaments, now you know.

Patch 5.0.16 might be coming out on June 16th.

5.0.16 PTR2 = the finalized 5.0.16 Live release, no testing period for 5.0.16 PTR2.

That's why no 5.0.16 PTR2 has been put out in the past 2 weeks now.(For context the Patch 5.0.15 PTR2 was put out only 4 days after Patch 5.0.15 PTR1)

If it reaches 3-4 weeks of no 5.0.16 PTR2 with no 5.0.16 Live release supplementing it during that timeframe, we got a very big problem here for SC2.

If you have been keeping track of other Blizzard games, June 16th is being hyped up as a major Blizzard stepping stone for Blizzcon in September. If SC2 doesn't get a 5.0.16 Live release on that day, we should be exceptionally concerned for SC2.

> Everything Blizzard is doing on June 16th:

June 16th is stacked.

If you were Blizzard and you wanted to release a new finalized SC2 patch this would be the prime day to do it. Since it fits with the rest of the game update release scheduling and any articles put up for those games.

> The 5.0.16 PTR2 is not coming this week(6/8-6/12) and didn't come this Friday(6/12).

Blizzard only posted non-SC2 related news on 6/12:

As you can see, no SC2 news.

  • 5.0.14 PTR1 was released on 10/21/2024.
  • 5.0.14 PTR2 was released on 10/31/2024(10 days later).
  • 5.0.15 PTR1 was released on 9/18/2025
  • 5.0.15 PTR2 was released on 9/22/2025(4 days later)

5.0.16 PTR1 came out on 5/28/2026.

5.0.16 PTR2 is still not out yet after 14+ days, it has went beyond the gaps between 5.0.14 PTR1-PTR2(10 days) and 5.0.15 PTR1-PTR2(4 days).

We are entering the 3rd week(6/15-6/19) of no 5.0.16 PTR2.

SC2 patches are always put to Live on the 3rd week or 4th week of the month:

  • 5.0.15 came out 9/30/2025
  • 5.0.14 came out 11/25/2024
  • 5.0.13 came out 3/26/2024
  • 5.0.12 came out 9/30/2023
  • 5.0.11 came out 1/23/2023
  • 5.0.10 came out 7/20/2022
  • 5.0.9 came out 3/15/2022
  • 5.0.8 came out 10/19/2021

This is good news for all Blizzard RTS games.

The 1.29 Legacy TFT client for WC3:R:

Warcraft RTS and WC3:R leading the way for Blizzard RTS games post-2020 once again.

WC:R got it's own WC3:C.

Now WC3 players have a choice between WC3:R(that constantly gets new updates/content, the future going forward.) and WC3:C(that doesn't get new updates/content, preservation of the past.).

Legacy clients for SC2(WOL and HOTS) and SC:R(BW pre-August 2017) can be added:

  • WOL's last client patch was Patch 2.0.5 in March 2013.
  • HOTS's last client patch was Patch 3.0.3 in October 2015.
  • BW's last client patch was Patch 1.18.8 in July 2017.

WOL Patch 2.0.5 and HOTS Patch 3.0.3 can have a new legacy client for each of them within the SC2 launcher. Those are the last client patches that those games were playing on before SC2 went F2P back in 2017.

BW Patch 1.18.8 was the last 1998 BW patch before SC:R released in August 2017. If SC:R wants to get the same level of Blizzard RTS team support that WC3:R does and get all the features that SC:R was originally promised in a "2.0" relaunch patch similar to what WC3:R got, they are going to have to split the client between legacy BW(1998-July 2017) and SC:R(August 2017-) like how WC3:R now has a legacy TFT client and the regular WC3:R client.

Starcraft RTS has fallen behind Warcraft RTS since 2020, Starcraft RTS not having legacy clients while WC3:R gets them is another sign of that.
