Narrating Build Orders in StarCraft 2

Hi everyone,

coming back to SC2 after a 12 year-ish break it is really fun and delightful to see that there are still people playing and enjoying this game! Especially in this subreddit the general vibe I get is very positive even though there is the occassionaly rant. :)

To improve my own skills I started to created narrated versions of build orders. I prefer to listen to a build order over reading it mid game. Don't know about you but my eyes are already busy enough checking all sorts of things when I am in a game. Ears however, not so occupied. :)

Since these narrated build orders turned out pretty good, I wanted to share them with you, so I decided to upload a first batch to Spotify. Check them out if you feel the same way about build orders the way I do.

Find the Spotify build orders;
for Terran here:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5wDoAVBT7nasxaBQkAH3pg
for Protoss here:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5IdqZ4kxxA0D92CtMD2F94
for Zerg here:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1JvID03kUesuS5hmzV8iGU

I either start the build order "song" on a second screen the moment the game starts and then hop back into SC2 or listen to the "song" over my smartphone on my desk. It is a wise move to turn down in-game audio a bit, if you want to try this. I am sure there is room for improvement when it comes to integration but it does the trick for now. Feel free to suggest solutions!

If you are confused about what I am talking, I also made a quick YT video on it. You can watch it here:

Let me know what you think about it!

Cheers,

Faux (not sure why I have such a weird username on reddit...I tried to change it.)

To the admins of this subreddit:

I have read rule 4 of this subreddit and, to my understanding, adhere to it. If you disagree, feel free to let me know what changes should happen, to make this post compliant with your rules. Thank you for looking over this subreddit!

Zerg lore

What's the in lore reason that zerg hive clusters have to morph tech buildings to be able to spawn particular units? eg Warren for Roach, Den for Hydras etc etc

CnC was my first RTS even before Starcraft. So many cool infantry ideas, all can be one shot by either getting squished, burned, ate, or irritated.

Alright lets see here what famous infantry quotes do we have *ahem*

I lost the bomb? Do you have it?

For the Union!

Shake it baby!

AK-47's for everyone!

Rubber boots in motion!

Fighters arm up!

How 'bout some action?

Ka'ching!

For king and country!

Mommy!

*Conscript death sounds*

In the name of Kane!

There goes the neighborhood!

A lil' C4 knocking on your door.

Just finished my collection!

I got the Terran box as a kid - just ordered a regular, but somehow all regulars they sold were these fold-ups with the face in the front. Recently I thought about selling it, checked the prices, and decided to aim for the full set instead.

I like those more than the SC2 CEs actually!

Why isn't Heaven's alt banned here?

He is supposed to be banned but is ban evading on his alt u/Old_Front7166

He is confirmed to be mentally unwell irl and just obfuscates all balance discussion in this subreddit with his endless crusading, often on things unsubstantiated or contradicted by statistics

He is known to be a nasty piece of work and could be a case study on cope, there is a reason he was banned here and is unwelcome in many streams here. Can something be done?

did firebats ever were used in multiplayer?

i remember firebats in Starcraft 1 were pretty much useless beides countering zergling swarms and maybe suicide runs against enemy workers.

and that's because their damage type does -50% damage to medium sized units and -75% damage to large sized units.
so while on theory, 4 firebats should counter an ultralisk well since their price is very similiar, they actually won't do diddly dick because instead of 16 damage they only deal 4 damage.

so were they really useless or am i missing something?

Day 1: What is the BEST quote associated with Jim Raynor?

Hey everyone! Inspired by similar posts in r/Grimdank, r/masseffect and perhaps other places I haven't seen, I've decided to put together a table to document the community's opinions on the best, worst and the most iconic quotes of StarCraft characters! Drop your opinions in the comments, and next time I post the prevalent one will be featured in the table.

Just be mindful of readability, the quotes best fit into about 30 words, if you'll upvote Zeratul's mile-long rants, I'll have to crop them xd

I'm starting with Terran characters and will later do Zerg and Protoss ones as well if these posts will be well-recieved.

What 'Best', 'Worst' and 'Most Iconic' means exactly is kept intentionally vague, but a good rule of thumb to differentiate between Best and Iconic is that Iconic quotes are the ones the characters are best known for. For example, "Hell, it's about time" is very strongly associated with Tychus so it easily qualifies for Iconic quote, but it's not the most profound statement he's ever said so it's not necessarily a good fit for the Best one.

I met someone earlier today on the ladder called MarineRush and that is all he does. As far as I can tell he woke up early in the morning today and has been doing nothing but proxy rax for at least 10 hours straight.

Starcraft 2 is LITERALLY unplayable >:(

The SCV stands for the Space Construction VEHICLE, and yet it's attacks are upgraded by INFANTRY upgrades, not VEHICLE upgrades, as it's name would suggest. Frankly I think this is absolutely disgraceful, and another example of "Blizzard Polish" just not meaning anything anymore. Sad to see this company fall so far, smh my head.

Just finished the epilogue after years having only completed wings of liberty

And.......

It was legitimately horrible. Honestly, I could've never played past wings and just relished the positive memory. I know I'm beating a dead horse here and the consensus is that the SC2 story is really bad, but wow. I wasnt prepared.

Heart of the swarm was silly but fun. I could tell the story got wacky after Kerrigan was rescued by raynor, but I overlooked it and had fun playing the missions.

Legacy of the Voids missions were pretty boring, but the increase in difficulty on brutal kept me grinding.

But the epilogue. Holy God. It was so much worse than the rest. Not only was the story so insanely boring and predictable, but the mission design was horrid. Ive seen people say they enjoyed the Narud mission, but all 3 missions are just fighting shadow units from the 3 main races. THATS. FUCKING. IT. The conclusion to all these campaigns was just fighting hoards of regular units for a few hours? Then smashing some flying rocks? Im baffled.

Anyways, I know I'm like 11 years late. I was going to go back and try to 100% the campaigns and complete the rest of the mastery achievements, but at this point I lack the motivation. That god awful epilogue legitimately killed off my love of the game. Guess I'll try to return to ladder after like 8 years. Or are the nova missions worth it?
