How does the TvZ matchup feel before and after the hotfix

Fellow Zerg and Terran players, I would want to have your opinion on how the matchup was before and after the hotfix.

What do you love, hate, find strange, difficulties, etc.

As a Terran player I'll start by saying that at first before the hotfix it felt like Zerg had an infinite amount of units and that I needed to do some decent damage just to get equal with the Zerg.

Also Zergs all-in felt really brutal and close to impossible to defend.

Still after playing a little bit I became accustomed to this and with some solid diversion and multi prong attacks I managed to get some wins.

The matchup did feel a little bit overtuned for Zerg but it wasn't as bad as I thought at first.

Now after the hotfix, I have won all my TvZs and I don't think it's because of the hotfix though it helped for sure. It's just that I'm now more familiar with the 8 worker change. Also, when I do some decent harass I finally feel that I got a little bit ahead and not simply almost getting even with the Zerg. I will say that now getting a kill with a reaper is hard especially since everyone now plays pool first or at least most of the Zergs. All-ins are still pretty brutal though especially roach ones as they have more than me compared to the 12 workers start

I would like everyone to stay polite and not insult the other race as we are all part of the same beautiful game.

Give Blizzard some props

Before I start, I just want to say that I really dislike what Blizzard has become these days. However, I think some of us are too harsh on them. I'm not saying they are making good decisions but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Firstly, they have started supporting the game way more than before where some of us even thought there would be no more updates(it could be argued that it would be better if they didn't do these changes at all) .

Secondly, they are listening to our feedback. People thought that Zerg lacked larva in the start of a game in the 8 worker start so they gave them more larva.

Warp gate on a gateway wasn't good so they listened to the community and they put it back on the cyber core.

The queen cost reduction was too much so they reverted it.

The reaper arrived too early so they increased it's production time.

People were wondering if they would continue to update or leave it for 6 months and in the hotfix they clearly stated that they will continue to update until it is stabilized.

Now not all these changes were good or they were due to the changes Blizzard made in the first place but still we can't say they don't listen to us as this is simply not true.

In conclusion, I think that these changes were not that good for the game and that they weren't well thought out.

So people have reacted and voiced their complaints and fears.

However, I think some of us have gone too far by saying that Blizzard is stupid, that they don't listen to fee1dback and that they want to kill the game, etc.

I'll admit that these communication wasn't always superb (to say the least) but I think that we should stay reasonable and give constructive and helpful feedback.

For example, I feel that Blizzard should communicate better by either making a post about their exact opinions or a general form about peoples opinion on the new patch.

That's all, if you made it this far I thank you very much and just want people to remember to stay constructive so we can make our game be in it's best possible state.

New Patch: TvZ - Zerg is not undefeatable

But it does seem to be extremely hard to beat them...

Replay: https://drop.sc/replay/27377785

So for context, I'm a Terran player who just hit diamond right before the new patch got live.

I don't pretend that I'm a good player who knows the game well(I still make so stupid mistakes or forget to macro) but I feel at my level that zerg is now harder to beat than before. It is maybe a good thing as zerg was maybe a little weak before but I feel that now the effort that a Terran needs to beat a zerg is now way higher than what a zerg needs to do.

In this replay, I used Pig's B2GM guide from 2021 and his diamond build order (modified the start to fit with the worker change). I feel that my early game was pretty godd killed 2 drones with a reaper then a lot more drones with a 4 hellion dive and then a little bit of drones with my multi-prong harass of lib-hellion. In the previous patch, I would now 100% be way ahead of my opponent but now it just felt that I was a little bit ahead. The game then transitioned into a long macro game where I could really fight his army head on so I used drops to tear him apart.

And honestly at my level I could almost always win easily with a frontal push after this good of an early game but now it wasn't possible. This was probably on of my best TvZs ever played (yeah I know I suck and this wasn't even that good) and after the game I was sure I defeated an opponent 100mmr higher than me.

But no he was exactly my mmr. The thing is that I feel that now I need to put way more effort and strategy to defeata zerg of my level on this (if I would use random numbers I would say the ratio of effort is 65 to 35 for the terran). Now I understand that will help me get better and I already see that I'm improving but I just feel that it is a little bit unfair now (yes maybe before zerg was i this situation and now I just get to feel what they felt for multiple patches).

If this was a standard macro game and my harass was mediocre, I would say that it was a fair game but now that it took me so much effort to defeat the zerg after my good early game, I feel that it is not fair. Also, I was also luck that my opponent didn't use ultras or infestors or I would have been cooked even with my good early.

So basically I just want to know if people agree with me or if you could point out that I was mistaken and that my early game was shit, that I missed my opportunity to kill him or that my multi-prong was ass, etc.

Ghost damage change

So I didn't use ghosts in the PTR, in the live version or just ever so take this as the opinion of an ignorant who is just curious and doesn't impose any change.

I'm not suggesting any change I'm just curious about the reasons for the change.

So they changed the attack from 10+10 light to 20 and now back to 15.

Because of this they are now a little bit weaker against light units(zerglings/zealots).

I was wondering why they didn't change the damage to 15+5 light as it would keep its damage vs light while buffing it's damage vs non-light(compared to live version) while not making them too strong vs non-light(as in PTR 1).

It's not a suggestion as I have said that I don't use ghosts(I suck at using them and they are just not really in my build order) and so I don't really know what I'm talking about but I was wondering the reasons for this change.

Do they want to make them a little bit less strong against light, etc.

Finally got Diamond!!!

So hi guys some of you might recognize me from my previous post.

It's just that as a relatively new player ( started 4 months ago ish), I feel that it is quite an achievement and wanted to share with you guys (I can't really share my joy with anyone else as they don't know what is SC).

I know I still have a long way to master but I feel that I've finally stopped being a noob and now have entered the territory of an acclimated player ( tho some might argue that a diamond is still a noob😅).

PS: Sorry for the image couldn't take a screenshot as I disabled the windows key on the settings.

So guys... Can I say I'm diamond?

For context I'm a new player started 4 months ago(I'm following Pig's B2GM guide 2021), I was placed in plat 3 dropped down to gold 1 and now I started to climb my way up the ladder.

I just had an intense game where I was behind but still managed to get the win and was so happy that I ranked up but here we are 😄

*Update: So I played 2 more games get destroyed in both of them because of personal mistakes, moral of the story don't brag about something before you have it (#don'tjixit)

How to TvT

So I'm a plat 1 player playing Pig's B2Gm 2021 plat mech build order. It works really well against Zerg and even protoss. (At my level mech still feels viable against protoss). However, in TvT the build is really strong against bio, but against mech I struggle. Especially when they go tank/mass viking.

I was curious if there was any good mech ground counter to vikings or how should I play a TvT mech vs mech.

For those that don't know the build order, it is a 1-1-1 into a 3 base 1-6-1 with a massive 3 base tank/hellbat push.

Whenever I try to go mass viking, I only have 1 Starports and it isn't enough so should I change some of the factories for Starports or there is another way(if yes then how many should I have 1-3-4 or 1-2-5 etc.)

Help against mass bc

Here is the replay: https://drop.sc/replay/27318621

So a little bit of context on this game,

I use Pig's b2gm 2021 terran guide. I'm in plat 1 and for plat he used a mech 3 base build.

For harrassement there are multiple little variations depending on the matchup (hellions vs zerg, mine drop vs protoss or bc/raven harass vs terran). I tried the bc harass this game as I just wanted to play with bc a little bit. When I saw that he was making mass bc I switched to thors and ravens, I though that this would be a hard counter and that I would win, but even with some interference matrixes it wasn't enough. I'm looking for help on any mistakes that I made that cost me this game.

For the mistakes that I have found here is the list:

-When the first bc arrived I didn't realise it was targetting scv and lost a bunch for free.

-After using interference matrixe with my ravens I don't save my ravens, but just forget about them

-When I attacked his base I sould have went straight for his production and not his third

-When he was using scv to repair the bc I should have retreated

-I forgot my armor upgrades

Now was there anything else because I feel that even if I didn't do all these mistakes I would have still won because I tested and in a 1vs1 fight bc kill thor(without even using yamato)

Also I know he was super greedy and defenceless and an early push with bio would have killed him but it is not in my build order.

What is the process of learning and creating new build order?

So I'm a new player who started 4 months ago.

Before I only played single player or coop. I've gotten into the game thanks to Pig's B2GM 2021 Terran.

I was always curious how people find out new builds and what's the methodology.

For example, what units do you need at the start, how to know if a build is good, the timings, etc.

Now with new patch, I think this has become way more important than before as I will need to relearn or maybe even create a build order.

If anyone could give me tips or explain the process they go through when they create or modify a build order. It would be greatly appreciated.

New Broodwar Player

So I've played Sc2 when I was a kid and got back into it 5 months ago.

I'm a plat 1 player mainly thanks to Pig's B2GM Terran guide.

I was looking at some videos and comments saying that Broodwar is better than Sc2 and wanted to try the ladder.

However I don't have any sc1 multiplayer experience and would like it if someone could give me some good sources to learn and get better at sc1.

Idk if there is good guides on YouTube but it would be ideal.

Here is the replay: https://drop.sc/replay/27222943

So I'm a new sc2 player, started playing 2 months ago and I've been following Pig's b2gm guide on terran (2021 version). Now I'm in plat and started to lay mech with a early 4 hellions harrassement. In this game, I just can't believe how well it worked. It never works like this in other games. Can people explain to me if it was just a skill issue on his part or was he just super greedy.

Edit: Thank you guys for the great response, I really love this incredible community.
