Lighter weight game similar to John Company? (have to SORT of work together SOMETIMES but also everyone is ultimately in it for themselves)

Hey all, looking for a recommendation in a tough category...

Our three player group really enjoyed the John Company aspect that we are all technically under the same umbrella organization, and if we don't occasionally work together enough, we will all lose. But at the same time, every instance of cooperation is also backed by everyone calculating exactly how little they can contribute to get the max for themselves.

We play a lot of true full coop games and we found this a lot of fun to haggle and wheel and deal around these moments.

However, its a massive game and found it rather draining (rules, overhead, setting/theme) and everyone agreed we love all the concepts of play in it, but not really keen to play it too much again.

Can anyone recommend something similar thats a bit lighter? I've tried to research on BGG but it's difficult to find the right kind of filters for this game.

WH3 - Dwarves 'trade tariffs' bonuses seem pointless?

There are lots of buildings, techs, mission rewards, etc that increase 'trade tariffs' by x% but it seems like even if I had + 400% its multiplying such a small raw number that its useless.

I have even heard that 'trade tariffs' isn't even ALL of the trade value, but some kind of hidden fixed sub-element of the trade value you get, but I'm not sure its even detailed out anywhere...

Am I just too small brained and missing something? Is there some kind of ultimate dwarven trade tax scam I'm not an advanced enough dwarf to understand?
