Doc Hollywood (1991).

Doc Hollywood (1991).

A feel-good romantic comedy where Micheal J Fox plays Ben Stone, a surgeon who gets stuck in a small town on his way to a new mega bucks job in LA.

At first he can't wait to leave but eventually he grows to like the place.

A very solid feel good romantic comedy with some genuine laugh out loud moments and a great supporting cast including Woody Harrelson, Bridget Fonda, Julie Warner and a lot of recognisable character actors.

I thought it was going to be kind of corny but the love story is believable thanks to the fully fleshed out characters who act like real people.

Sometimes in these kinds of movies the small town folks would be portrayed as dumb hicks for laughs but they were all likeable and the old man doctor played by Barnard Hughes is hilarious.

I forget sometimes how much of a treasure Michael J Fox is.

Mindwarp (1991). Post-apocalyptic B-movie which the Wachowskis definitely saw when they were young. Handsome legend Bruce Campbell, killer cannibals, gross gore, buckets of shlock and some nice old school special effects. I think people here might appreciate this movie.

A great old school World War 2 action adventure starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood which i had just watched for the first time as i am getting in to classic war movies.

Burton leads a team of special operatives on a mission to rescue a captured American General from a mountaintop fortress in Bavaria which is accessible only by cable car. It was filmed on location in Austria and the snow covered landscapes look really epic. One of the reasons i like old movies is that a lot of the time they actually went to other countries to film because they couldn't just greenscreen it.

It's a long movie at around 2 and a half hours and does start off a bit slow but once the action starts it barely lets up. There's shootouts where Eastwood and Burton must kill at least 100 German soldiers, a fight to the death on top of a cable car hundreds of feet above the ground and plenty of explosions and vehicle wrecks to keep action fans happy.

One bonkers scene features Eastwood shooting Germans in a castle hallway and they just line up like dominos so he can mow them down. No wonder they lost the war!

Early on it is established that Eastwood and Burton both speak fluent German but i did think it was funny that Richard Burton doesn't even attempt an accent when he's undercover.

Good old fashioned stuff.

Trashy B-movie where Ted Rami rents a room from Ricki Lake and although he seems like a normal guy he is actually a serial killer who likes to wear the skin of his victims. His name is Dennis Skinner and he skins people.

Ex dirty movie star Traci Lords plays one of his victims who got away and now wants revenge.

There's some impressive squishy gore effects and a very atmospheric creepy soundtrack.

Oh yeah, there's also an absolutely bonkers scene where the killer chases after a screaming woman while wearing the skin of a black guy he's killed while doing his best impression of a 19th century plantation slave.

I love me some good trash.
