Free MIDI Idea Generator for Ableton, looking for feedback from trance producers

Hi r/tranceproduction!

We've been working on a Max For Live device that generates compatible drum, bass, and synth MIDI clips, and we'd especially like to get some feedback from trance producers.

Generation is controlled with 6 genre knobs for Acid, House, Techno, Trance, D&B, and Hip-Hop, plus controls for Darkness, Energy, Complexity, Density, Groove, and Weirdness. You can also choose the key and scale and select which MIDI tracks the generated parts should go to.

For this subreddit in particular, we'd really like to hear what you think with the Trance control turned up. We're interested in whether the generated drums, basslines, and melodic loops feel useful as starting points for your tracks, and what you'd want changed or improved.

Everything stays as editable MIDI, so you can use your own synths, drum racks, and sounds and keep developing the result normally in Live.

Under the hood, it uses our own compact ML model trained on MIDI data we licensed directly from sample pack providers.

You can download the device and user guide here:

It requires Ableton Live with Max for Live and Max 8.

There's a feedback form linked inside the device, which we'd really appreciate you filing out if you give it a try, but feedback here in the thread is very welcome too.

Free Generative MIDI Max For Live Device, looking for feedback

Hi r/MaxForLive!

We're releasing an early version of a Max For Live device we've been working on, and would love to hear your feedback on it, including suggestions on how it can be improved.

It generates multiple MIDI loops in parallel (drums, bass, and synth) and inserts them directly into MIDI tracks in Live. Generation is controlled by 6 genre knobs (Acid, House, Techno, Trance, D&B, and Hip-Hop), 6 mood knobs (Darkness, Energy, Complexity, Density, Groove, and Weirdness) as well as an optional musical key. So you can really dial in the sound you want and mix between genres dynamically.

The idea behind it is to quickly generate editable ideas in MIDI that you can play back with any instrument.

You can download the device and user guide here.

In the device itself there's also a link to a feedback form. If you try it out, we'd appreciate any comments or feedback there or in the thread here as well.

The device was 100% created by humans. No animals were harmed during its production, either.
