If Sombr is cancelled, Sabrina Carpenter should be too
For context, Sombr made weird remarks at his concert full of mostly tweens and teens like asking the audience to “bark” and saying that he’s “daddy.” He rightfully got a ton of backlash but that backlash near ruined his career.
It’s debatable whether or not what he did warranted that backlash, but what annoys me is that Sabrina Carpenter singled out one of her fans, found out she was sixteen years old, and asked that fan if she was horny.

Along with generally sexualizing herself when her audience is a very similar age range as Sombr, why has she not faced the same backlash?
Does Part 6 of Hexagons remind anyone else of Aerodynamic by Daft Punk
Both songs have a similar synth sound doing sort of baroque influenced arpeggio. I think its pretty cool I wonder if it’s intentional
Ever since Mel Gibson played John Smith in Pocahontas (1995) he has been cursed to slowly turn into the real John Smith
The term “centrist” has been bastardized to have negative connotations but being a centrist actually extremely logical
Speaking specifically in a U.S. context, I’ve noticed a lot of people, particularly people on the left, using the term “centrist” as an insult. This seems to be part of a growing sentiment that centrists are somehow complicit in whatever the right is doing by not 100% disagreeing with them.
I think the major flaw in this logic is the belie that centrists don’t stand on anything which is just wrong. A true centrist does stand on things. They stand on individual issues. They just don’t take the exact same stance on all the same issues a single party does. And why should they? Why should we force ourselves to conform to such a binary way of thinking? Being a centrist isn’t as simple as saying “both sides bad” its saying that in reality everything is a shade of gray and obviously one “side” isn’t gonna have a perfect take on each and every gray.
I think its just a symptom of this current situation where people are becoming increasingly devoted to their parties and are too afraid to try to look beyond their way of thinking because it might alienate them from all of their friends and colleagues.
When discussing this topic people tend to focus mostly on the liminal, labyrinthian aesthetic of the book, but I think these movies cover some other, more under appreciated aspects of the book.
Under the Silver Lake (2018): This is specifically Andrew Garfield’s character is exactly how I imagined Johnny when reading the book. He’s a sex-obsessed conspiracy theorist trying to unravel this grand, otherworldly conspiracy. Theres hidden codes throughout the movie and answers hidden in plain sight. Its frustrating and you shouldn’t expect any straight answers, but if you can deal with that, theres a LOT to think about and enjoy. It’s one of my personal favorite movies.
The Empty Man (2020): In this one you get a lot of philosophical pondering, similar to Zampanò’s and Johnny’s narration. The Protagonist is a psychologically tormented man who investigates a seemingly impossible conspiracy (Johnny) and ends up wandering through long hallways and facilities (Navidson). Theres also some super lovecraftian moments and themes that feel similar to House of Leaves.
Lost Highway (1997): Any Lynch movie would apply honestly (especially Inland Empire), but this movie specifically has that ambiguity where you question whats fantasy and whats real that I loved in the book.
To be clear, I absolutely love almost every Muse song. If I was rating them in comparison to music in general, almost all these songs would be at least 9/10.
Also I threw in a TW!S prediction for the hell of it.
