I was just terminated.

I was just terminated from my job because, well, I wasn't performing upto the expectations. And honestly, I saw it coming.

The past three months, I saw my ideas being shot. Tools not being provided, which were accessible to the upper management and not to the marketing personnel, expected to go above and beyond when the limitations were mostly the upper management going "we don't like it, AI can make it better and for cheaper."

So of course, my performance was trash. I hated the management and how everything was a shit storm. And now that I am terminated, I don't even feel guilty.

But the dread of being jobless is so damn real. My father lives in pension and is still paying for the most necessities in the house and I hate how I just lost my income. I am pursuing my graduation side by side but this is just all kinds of bullshit.

Any solutions for remote jobs? Even part times will do. I ask for remote because of my studies and my aging parent. I am based out of India and the job market is pretty trash atm. So Idk what to do.

Why SBS is a comfort anime

I think, as a corporate burnt out employee, SBS is probably the only anime in a long time, that has attempted to hold space for adult loneliness in the real world. I found SBS when I started a new job and was having a difficult time adjusting but seeing/reading SBS was my "Yamada" of the day. It held space to just....exist. It held space for human emotions and relationships between adults who are all dealing with their own problems.

All the characters and stories are relatable because I feel like everyone has gone through things like a boss who's no good, a job that's sucking the life out of you, letting go of your dream of buying a car cuz it seemed unrealistic, stuff like that.

And I think it's truly beautiful, how the series just holds space for you. To slow down, relax and take your time.

▲ 3 r/Workproblems+1 crossposts

It's Sunday Afternoon, and I can already hear the grating whining of my boss.

So, storytime.

I started working for a Dubai based AI PropTech start up in July after resigning in April. I hadn't been unemployed for too long though, I got the job offer within the first month of my unemployment and started from July.

But the problem began almost immediately. I was working with the C-suites, I had no training guide on what was expected and I was left to figure stuff out alone. And my immediate manager, is the CCO. Mind you, I work in Marketing, they have no CMO or Marketing head in their company. They have a CCO who handles the Marketing. And what really started to piss me off, is that, he knows nothing regarding the pipelines of marketing.

He doesn't understand that the entire job is based on clarity. And that I, as a new employee of the company, WILL BE REQUIRING CLARITY. Which means, I ask questions. Lots of it. Enough until the process is clear. And each time, mind you, I am met with "this is really frustrating" with 5-8 minutes of voice notes on how I should be more competent, how I should take more initiative and how I need to move with the authority of a manager. He said that, two weeks into me working. Two weeks, where there are no clear understanding of what I need to do because my boss, ABSOLUTELY REFUSES to let go of control.

It has been 1 and half month(s) since I started and I already hate the job. Not because I have pressure, not because I hate the work but because of the mental gymnastics I have to play. The long paragraphs, the 5 minutes of Voice Notes after every minor inconvenience as if I am someone who hasn't worked in marketing for nearly 4 years with the experience of working in an agency where I handled 6 different clients, as if I am incompetent. Not to mention, this person has literally sent me a text saying I piss him off.

And I am at a stage where I cannot quit cuz the money is good, the work pressure is great, but the mental gymnastics of not trying to walk into an active mine everyday is getting exhausting. And it's 3:35PM on a Sunday afternoon and I can already hear the notification bells going off.

Any advice on surviving? I wanna look for a US/UK based part time job until I graduate but until then I need to hang on. So please give me realistic but unhinged advice to survive this. Thank you good Samaritans. 😭🙏🏽
