Or at least paid fairly. Read this on twitter. I think it's an interesting story to most of us considering the Asian representation on The Summer and how much Jenny has done for Asian representation and how much further it can go still.

With movies and TV shows it's been the case where where the POC lead tends to disappear after the project and it's the white ( usually male) actors who have more success afterwards. See Leo Woodall and Ambika Mod post One Day.

I think even with Jenny's projects the post show success stories are usually the white male leads. It was looking to be that way with The Summer post Season 2 , Chris Briney was cast as Aaron Samuels in the Mean Girls Musical while series lead Lola Tung had nearly a year of no work ( was also during the strike)

Post Season three wrapping it certainly seemed like Chris was the breakout and deservedly so but everyone seems to be doing great, Lola, Rain, Sean and Gavin.

Hopefully we've turned a corner. Sean Kaufmann who was not even one of the leads on the show is now booking some of the most high profile jobs of the group. A Daniels Movie with Matt Damon and another book adaptation opposite Daisy Edgar Jones .

Lola is becoming an indie princess in films by A24 with Halina Reijn and Neon with Osgood Perkins .

We wish everyone the best but it's certainly great to see more Asian representation and more success stories for POC actors, writers, directors , cinematographers and everyone in between.

The last picture was used by the set decorator as inspiration. Unidentified artist but similar to Renoir or John Singer Sargent, beautifully dressed ladies taking tea in a garden.

Nice to see Chris leaning into The Summer and his most popular project till date! Especially since he understandably might want to move away from a permanently yearning status

Does this give us hope for more TSITP related promotions and campaigns. Even more collaborations with his costars. Maybe we see him and Lola promote a fragrance ( Loving the Alexander Skarsgard and Dakota Johnson Valentino campaign) or do a music video leading upto the movies release. Chris and Lola would be marketing gold. They haven't been seen together since S3 interviews. If they are not bound by contracts at Amazon I don't see why not!

I've heard some rumblings about a sequel in the works. I loved the original and my favourite was Astrid! Seeing Gemma Chan in the front row with Lola ( love Milly alcock in the middle) has me really hoping they do a sequel and hopefully Lola is included in the cast!

In my ideal version along with Lola Tung we would have Yerin Ha, Hudson Williams, Anna Sawai ( Shōgun) even Sean Kaufmann and several other amazing actors would need some of the OG cast for sure especially Michelle Yeoh.

The Julia Set seems to be a crowd pleaser. These are reviews from Letterboxd most likely, so it's probably going to fare better with general audiences regardless of what critics are saying.
