Eureka Crono adjustment sensitivity - why?
I’ve had my Crono (w/ espresso burrs) for about 2 years. Along with my Caphalon Temp IQ - after about a month of a lot of frustration - I get a cup of espresso that I’m happy with. I have both machines dialed in for a double shot. And I found myself sticking to a medium roast bean.
The kicker is: why the hell are the adjustments on the Crono so insanely minuscule?
The grind size knob basically goes from 0-30 1-10 3x) but if I move it just a 1/16“ it can go from choking the machine completely to a watery low extraction gas station coffee.
The timer knob is even worse. Fractions of a millimeter will adjust the weight by .5 g
Once it’s set, it’s fine. I’m super careful when wiping it down though. But I’ve just spent a month to get it back to where it was after someone left some very oily espresso blend beans at my house and my pours started going all over the place.
I just don’t see the point of being so sensitive.
Apparently it’s a feature advertised on their website: “Stepless Micrometric Regulation SystemPatented by Eureka, it assures incomparable setting precision and saving of time and coffee.“
I‘ve wasted more time and coffee than I’d like to admit
