Waitlist for assessment 1.5 years for almost 3 year old 😵💫
So I guess I want to ask… does this all sound like autism? (We have a long wait for where we want to go, and multiple others I called aren’t even scheduling. I did get another list of drs to call- so there is still hope for a sooner appt. )
My son was fast to crawl, walking by one. Began with words and identifying body parts and then had a noted regression. We did EI for speech eval but he qualified for DI not speech, in the meantime his speech began to flourish on his own - receptive is awesome, knows abcs, numbers, animals, can read words. He lacks functional speech progress and will pull you, not point, or whine when he wants or needs something. When frustrated when play or wack at ears now.
Never slept solid until the age of 2 …..Doesn’t respond to his name….. Doesn’t really point to things…. Doesn’t ask questions …..Doesn’t really say or hi bye another unless on the phone. ……Lines up toys and loves labeling things …….Use to squint funny when younger but stopped …….He will take toys close to his face at times and side eye them …….Loves to spin and will until he will fall when he’s doing it …….As a young toddler he use to bounce on the front of his shins ……..Gets annoyed if he’s doing his toy line up and you want to stop him or disrupt the line …….Won’t participate in story time or group activities in a crowd …..Hides his head if people are singing happy birthday while out to dinner or if something’s scary to him …….Sometimes will walk off a playground and shows little interest in actually playing with kids his age ……..He will play with older cousins and older siblings- he does not yet go to preschool or daycare- so he lacks that extra socializing because I have been waiting for his communication to get better before letting him out of my sight. ……Picky eater. ….Loves eating the crust of things, use to eat great around one and now prefers snacks and fruits - will also gag at the smell of certain foods or sight of certain foods …..Cries and thrashes at any dr assessment - need to bear hug him and hold his head to get looked at Hates brushing his teeth- we have to hold him now ( he enjoyed as a baby and young toddler)
