AITAH for getting mad at my stepdad for how he treated his son getting ticks?
Hi, so I (23F) just got home from work. I knew that today my nonverbal, autistic brother (7M) would be going to a state park. I specifically told my family in the group chat to check him for ticks when he got home. The group chat involves me, my mother, my stepfather, my sibling (19NB) and my sister (13F). My sister was at school so she isn’t important here.
My sibling and my stepfather were watching my brother. Well, none of them checked for ticks. So when I got home, I did. I took off his school clothes, took off his diaper, and low and behold, there’s a tick on his waist near where the diaper was. I tell my sibling to get me tweezers while I texted our mom, who’s at work, to inform her that her son has a tick.
My step father decided to start yelling, calling me hysterical, that it was just a mole, to shut the fuck up. I bring my brother upstairs and with my sibling’s help, we removed the tick. My brother was crying, freaking out, constantly flinching away from the tweezers. My step dad provided no help.
So now I’m absolutely furious. I’m pissed off at my step dad, I’m pissed off at my sibling, I’m just pissed off in general. Am I the asshole for being so mad??
My brother is currently taking a bath with me supervising. He’s acting fine at the moment, at least. I’m worried that I’d miss some ticks though
