Would straight out buffing rogues absorb passives be too much?
I was thinking of ways to buff rogues “highs” while not completely removing her weaknesses to make her feel both fair and rewarding to play with and against. I came up with the idea of straight up buffing role passives from absorbing enemies, going more into her risk reward play style, and flexibility.
Grabbing a dps could become more like a mini gambit teamup, giving you the damage and aoe punches for the duration. This could replicate the feeling you get from straight up blowing people up with gambit teamup to a lesser extent, while still being balanced by the fairly long cooldown.
Grabbing a tank could give you a buffed block on top of the hp it gives you normally, allowing you to actually frontline and brawl more, as well as allowing you to actually get off empowered southern brawls in the fight for more satisfying damage.
Absorbing a support could give you something like movement speed on top of the healing buff, making it easier for you to use it for escaping or stalling without fully committing , giving you more playmaking potential.
These changes would also go a long way in making her ult feel more satisfying as well, although they may have to nerf it to compensate for all the buffs being received at the same time.
I believe these changes would fix many of the big complaints about how rogue feels, as well as not being extremely frustrating due to the grab cooldown being a longer cooldown. The added reward would make it feel worthy of the duration, as well as making the extra ability feel like the “cherry on top” instead of the focus of the ability.
