Built a free happy hour site for the DMV. Almost one year in.
I’ve lived in the DMV for years and was constantly frustrated trying to find happy hour spots, especially when moving around neighborhoods. I couldn’t find anything online that was updated or complete, so I built my own.
It’s called DMV Happy Hours (www.dmvhappyhours.com). It’s a free directory with 800+ venues across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. No sign-ups, no paywalls, just happy hours.
The community feedback over the past year genuinely shaped what this became, so thank you for that.
A few things people seem to use most:
• Neighborhood guides across Navy Yard, the Wharf, Capital One Arena, Georgetown and Dupont Circle
• A map view so you can see what’s happy hour near you right now
• Filter by day and time so you only see what’s actually open when you’re going out
• New venue coverage as places open across DC
One of the most popular guides is the outdoor happy hour guide that lets you find rooftop, patio and waterfront happy hours in the area.
Coming up on a year, I want to keep building this for the DMV so I’d rather just ask:
What would actually make this more useful for you?
• A way to save your go-to spots?
• Better coverage in a specific area?
• Something else entirely?
