There's some bug with idle villagers right?

I've seen in most of my games since the patch as well as on many people streams, villagers (possibly just lumberjacks) are standing there basically T posing but not showing up as idle. There's no way to know unless you're actively looking

Counter to muisca - M@a's ahoy?

I don't think they're broken or anything I just don't know their civ. Between temple guard and guecha it seems that covers all bases except for m@a which also get bonuses vs the guard, but they also have slingers so idk. Is champi -> guard their usual game plan and is m@a the best answer?

I swear arabia gens are getting weirder and weirder. Not a single gold or stone spawn on the right side of the map

Hindustanis are forcing me to really think harder about the game

Inb4 "hindustanis are doing really well on the ladder hurrdurr noob civ"

As a 1200 player i've gotten this far by mostly spamming 1 civ at a time that has a clear and strong gameplan. Lithuanians taught me about knights and scouts, ethiopians taught me about archers and siege. Coming into hindustanis though theres no mono gameplay, you can't lean on knights because you don't get them and you can't all in archers for the entire game because you don't get arbalest. You're missing halbs and plate mail so your infantry need mass and attention to be effective. Your mid game plan is flexible and your opening can be whatever you want, but you're forced to actually consider the opponents civ and what is the appropriate tool rather than being able to brute force your way with an all purpose deathball.

All of your unit bonuses apply to counter units which also have hard counters. Camels are powerful but melt to spears in a way that knights dont, ghulams destroy archers but are mediocre vs dedicated melee units and handcannons are strong but fragile to basically everything. Everything you want to do costs a lot of gold and requires planning ahead

I know people will disagree because spamming camels or ghulams works for them but for me it feels like the training wheels are off

How the heck do you deal with bengali battle ele+halb

At least as hindustanis. They're more resistant to conversion and take 25% less damage, and you dont get arbs, halberd or siege onager.

Camels are great, but they melt to halbs unless you brute force it. You also don't get plate mail for your spears or ghulams, they just dont really get the job done. I feel like i'm sitting there with my thumb up my butt taking crazy pills

There's no "wrong" way to play this game, but I think I matched with a strong contender today

He sent basically his whole town forward, towered + stole resources + just did degenerate things in general. So I was like, what the hell was that, who hurt this guy, and checked his profile

He exclusively plays bulgarians and had won 15 of this last 20 games. My cheese strat sense was tingling and I was curious, so I loaded up some of the games. I couldn't look away

Every single game he will get loom and send 2 vills immediately forward. They will steal any sheep, shoot all the deer, wall themselves in and lame the boars. Then he moves to stone, and sends about 8 vills forward to build towers and then mill their towered berries. Forward barracks, forward lumber camp, forward brain stem coz it was truly some caveman shit

He will wall in your barracks, punch down your houses, basically every single filthy thing you can think of. I felt dirty just watching it. And the truly disturbing thing was that he had nearly 1500 games as bulgarians

Kinda sad how the Teutons have Teutoff'd

It seems that they're forever relegated to being a one trick broken-legged pony because I dont think ive seen more than 5% of them not Trushing, and either winning or resigning under 15 minutes

Seeing a classic civ with such good eco and civ bonuses and the most iconic unit in the game to be in such a sad place... it breaks me heart.

I feel similar about Spanish castle drop but they're competitive and have had changes to make them a little more flexible

Whats with all the chinese players who just have a number as a name

I get them every 4-5 matches and they always have super dodgy profiles of months of not playing then spiking in elo, or dropping hundreds in a day

Can I just get players in my region ffs, why is every online game plagued by these people

Not sure i'm understanding hindustanis

They're doing good on the ladder but i'm bleeding elo trying to figure them out. I tend to spam one civ at a time till I feel like i'm comfortable with that playstyle then try something new, i've gone from lithuanians -> ethiopians who have very straight forward game plans but I feel very lost with hindustanis.

I get that they're a counter based civ but I sorta feel aimless with my comp, how I should open and what the resource distribution should be. I think lacking arb and knights is screwing with me since they're such versatile gold units, camels are cool and all but they're hyper niche and die to like, everything. It's difficult to find a stable comp without a flexible, high dps gold unit

So i'm sorta sitting here in games not sure what direction to go, dying to early aggression, being unsure if I should be booming into HC+Shatagni/imp camel or pressuring with their mediocre midgame

Also just got my assrolled by Turks Jan+Light cav since the camels got blown to pieces and the skirms got dived. Shits HARD

Vulpine is actually such a shame since the ranked map version is badly designed

It was fun and exciting in red bull, but again they change the map for ladder and it just ends up being ass

Red bull didnt have the line of unbuildable terrain going straight through your TC, so the players could actually wall. The foxes and trade workshop are now completely pointless because one person is just going to spam scouts into the other base and there's nothing they can do about it. The games never going to go late enough for the quirks to matter

They did the same thing with stranded. The tournament map had extremely little stone, but they added standard patches in the ranked pool version and it just turned into typical nomad castle drop strategy

Do Khmer really need to have a full tech tree on top of everything else

I'm already dealing with scout spam into knight spam into elephant spam, I dont also need to worry about the fact they have a full blacksmith tree, full archery tree, full light cav, full dock tree and handcannons on top of their insane eco bonuses and cheese strats

The only things they don't have available are bombards, paladin and champion. which they don't really care about since they can deathball in castle age better than any other civ, and beat you there while still making 8 scouts

Like pls.

Just played a guy who didnt play for an entire year, went up 300ELO in 2 days with like a 75% winrate and then dropped 300 the next two days almost every single game

Idk if this is smurf deranking or switching accounts or what but not being able to trust people aren't abusing the ladder pisses me off
