Made my first Adze Handle - 3rd Handle ever!!!

Hello, hope everyone is well.

I have started getting into tool restorations and recently restored this Vintage Adze Head from rusty to useable.

The head didn't come with a handle, however it was only £7.

It is a 3 Pound Adze Head. Possibly needed a 2 handed handle, but I was more gonna use it for hollowing out chair seats etc.

-

Its is an Ash and Iroko handle, which I made with hand tools.

I feel it maybe a little thick. However, I was worried the handle would snap if it's too thin.

-

Any advice and feedback would be appreciated.

I am still new to the handle making and would like to get into axe restoration and handle making.

Thanks :)

Adze Sharpening & Handle - Any tips?

Hello, I have begun restoring an Adze I bought at an antique shop for £7.

I want to use it for hollowing out chair seats and other inward curves.

-

I have been sanding the rust off by hand with oil and sandpaper, and this is the point I have gotten it too so far.

-

While I have experience sharpening planes and chisels and saws, I'm not too sure how to sharpen it with it being curved.

-

I am also creating an Ash and Iroko handle for it. Main body Ash with and iroko hand swell.

It is my first attempt at this, so we shall see how it goes.

However, I was wondering if anyone had any experience making these handles and had any suggestions on how the adze needs to be set and the shape of the handle should be.

The handle will be a short, 300mm one, not at 2 handed adze handle.

Thanks very much for any advice.

Finger Joint Clean Up Question: Hand Tool Wood Working.

Hello, I am doing my first joinery project and have opted for finger Joints to create a Ash Jewellery Box.

The fingers fit together pretty well, no gaps as I experienced the first time I tried to make one.

However, I stupidly measured one edge of the thickness and assumed they'd be both the same.

They aren't...

So the finger joint doesn't sit flush to the face of the wood, is their anyways to fix this without extra cutting as I am wottird about creating gaps.

-

I was thinking of hand planning them till they are flush. However, if anyone has any better ideas....

-

I'm probably gonna do a few practice attempts on scrap before the next cut. So any tips on measuring and cutting accurate finger joints will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)
