Financial Aid

For any Georgetown transfer students here who are low-income:
Did you receive full or substantial financial aid?
Was the aid package enough to make Georgetown affordable?
Any help with housing?
How was the process -was it straightforward or did you have to negotiate?
I have FAFSA eligibility so I’d be going through federal aid + institutional aid. Just trying to get a realistic picture before making a decision.

Any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Confirmed SIBO, but I can’t tolerate rifaximin. Anyone else?

I’m honestly at my breaking point and looking for experiences from people who have been through something similar.
I have a positive SIBO test and have now attempted treatment twice.
The first time I was prescribed rifaximin plus neomycin. Around day 5–6 I developed severe watery diarrhea and had to stop treatment early.
A few weeks later, I retried rifaximin alone. Again, around day 5 I developed severe watery diarrhea and feel like I won’t be able to complete the course.
What’s confusing is that some of my symptoms seem to improve on antibiotics, but then the diarrhea becomes so bad that I can’t continue treatment.
I’ve had extensive testing, including blood work, and everything has been normal so far.
My questions are:
Has anyone else had severe diarrhea specifically around day 4–7 of rifaximin treatment?
Did it turn out to be a medication side effect, bile acid diarrhea, IBS-D, or something else?
Were you able to complete treatment, or did you have to switch to another approach?
If rifaximin failed for you, what ended up helping?
Did anyone find an underlying cause for recurrent SIBO after multiple treatment failures?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who had confirmed SIBO and could not tolerate rifaximin despite it supposedly being one of the most tolerated antibiotics.
Any experiences or advice would be appreciated

Anyone on SIBO antibiotics get joint pain + body aches like symptoms?

Hey, I’m currently on SIBO treatment (rifaximin + neomycin) and I’ve been feeling pretty rough.
Besides the usual GI symptoms, I’m getting:
joint pain all over (shoulders, knees, elbows)
muscle aches
fatigue and weakness
Has anyone else experienced this on similar therapy? Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

SIBO After H. pylori Treatment – Hydrogen Dominant + Methane, Severe Brain Fog & Dizziness

Hi everyone,

I recently tested positive for SIBO after dealing with H. pylori for months. I completed treatment and eradicated it (confirmed by breath and stool tests), but now I’m dealing with SIBO.
My results show hydrogen-dominant SIBO with a significant rise (baseline 4 → 57 at 90 min, peak 160), and methane levels also elevated (peaking around 23) — so it looks like mixed SIBO, but mainly hydrogen.

My symptoms:
- Brain fog / groggy feeling
- Dizziness and weakness (this is the most concerning)
- Constipation (sometimes) + occasional diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
- Food intolerances

The dizziness and “foggy head” feeling have been really worrying. My doctor even referred me to cardiology, but everything looks normal so far — yet the symptoms are still there.
I’ve been prescribed:
- Xifaxan (rifaximin)
- Neomycin
- Also currently on a PPI

I’ve read that neomycin can have some side effects, which makes me a bit hesitant.

For those who’ve been through this:
- What helped you the most during treatment?
- Did you take probiotics alongside antibiotics? If yes, which ones worked for you?
- Any tips for managing the brain fog and fatigue? Is it related to SIBO or something else?

For context, my endoscopy last year showed gastritis and H. pylori. H. pylori is now gone, but SIBO has come up instead.

Would really appreciate any advice or shared experiences.
Thanks 🙏

I have been admitted to UC Berkeley (Full Ride) and Columbia GS program. International Relations and Global Studies are the preferred majors. Personally leaning toward UCB but anyone here has the similar situation?
