Brown vs Duke vs Georgetown SFS — need help deciding
I was originally committed to Georgetown SFS, but this week I got off the waitlist at both Brown and Duke, so now I’m pretty conflicted.
I’m interested in international affairs, politics/econ, law, and possibly finance/consulting. Georgetown SFS feels like the most directly aligned option, but Brown and Duke seem to offer more flexibility if I want to explore different career paths. And while I have been interested in IR and politics for a while, I am not quite sure I am as certain as the people that end up choosing SFS over other schools.
I think the whole overall prestige/ranking thing is more or less a bit of a scam (in that case Duke would rank best but who cares), so I’m more interested in what you guys think about recruiting, academic flexibility, long-term opportunities, and overall student life/environment on campus. Any advice would be appreciated.
For context, I’ve moved around the world for most of my life, so I’m drawn to schools with an international feel and a strong sense of community. While I do enjoy being in a city, I also really like the idea of having a more traditional campus feel, strong school spirit, and an active social environment.
