Feature request - freeze objects

I recently worked on a project with reference images and it’s been a pain. You wanna deselect something, you involuntarily select a reference image. You wanna move something? You accidentally move the reference image.

The only solution to this has been to put them all into a folder and continuously toggle visibility.

I feel like a ”freeze object” feature would solve this. When enabled, the object would only be selectable from the object list, but not in the viewport.

This would probably be useful for more than just reference images.

Also, when working with reference images, the xray feature has been great, however, it also ”xrays” the images. It would make sense to be able to keep references fully opaque.

(I realize this in an unofficial sub but I know Shapr staff hang around here as well)

New app idea!

I’ve been pondering this for a while. AI seems to be fairly popular these days and it seems crazy to me that no apps posted here are taking advantage.

I think most of these models have api:s, so wouldn’t it be possible to make an app that uses a model programmatically? That way, your app doesn’t really have to do anything and all it requires from you as a dev is more or less being able to get a react native boilerplate up and running and submit it to the stores!

It’s strange we haven’t seen this type of apps posted here. No one seems to be tapping into the AI hype, there definitely seems to be a hole in the market here!

I would definitely enjoy this sub way more if this caught on. If my idea catches on (you’re all welcome to use it for free), we might even see tons of these excellent apps here posted daily, and if we’re really lucky, maybe even multiple apps per day from the same developer!

Now also consider the monetization possibilities! Add a nice subscription model and you’ll have SEVERAL users generating tens of dollars!

I don’t know, maybe I’m on to something here and this could become big! And I just feel that this sub has become a bit stale with all the boring programming discussions and that AI wrapper apps would surely be a breath of fresh air here.

Got my parents an Apple TV and just now realized how absurd the naming is

So let me get this straight:

Apple TV - the device.
Apple TV - an app on the Apple TV device.
Apple TV - a streaming service that you access through the Apple TV app (which in itself is a store front and a hub, where Apple TV, the streaming service, is only a section) on your Apple TV.

Good luck to everyone having to try explain this to anyone. What an absolutely consumer-hostile naming scheme.

Or maybe I’m exaggerating? Just find the show on Apple TV in Apple TV on Apple TV.

And since third-party apps integrate with the AppleTV app, you can watch content in AppleTV not available on AppleTV. Mind boggling.

Is changing body colors really only possible through the paid visualization?

Im using the free version, only modeling for fun.
(Not to beat a dead horse but I love the UX and would definitely buy some sort of hobby license for a less outrageous price. I only model as a ”creative output” and don’t even need exporting, so the current price is just not feasible)

I find not being able to set basic colors to different bodies really limiting, as it makes it harder to keep them apart. I don’t need textures, just simple colors to more easily be able to tell what is a separate body.

Is this really locked behind ”Visualisation” feature or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks!
