Does Anybody Else Think That We don't need those "SOTA" that much ?

I have started integrating AI into my work. I use AI a lot, but I still plan how the software structure, which technologies to use, and how to approach a problem.

I have been using the Composer model ever since I joined Cursor. For the last week, I decided to give Opus 4.8 a shot, and I was not impressed, like I don't get the hype at all. The composer would do the same thing, much faster and cheaper.

In my own understanding, I think these high-end models are useful for people who want to oneshot their software. But if you break your project down into smaller steps, and handle a well-scoped task for an AI, any model can get you where you want.

What are your thoughts on this?
