Am I missing something about Notion for students, or is it just overhyped?

Hello everyone,

it seems like many people, especially students, treat Notion as something which should be used as "a must-have tool". I've tried it but I should admit I simply do not see the sense behind it.

I am a university student and now I am following 4 courses, which means I have about 7 exams per academic year. The thing is, I don’t view myself as a rare student enrolled in an unusual field of study. I am regular student, with a schedule and everyday commitments no different from those of many other university students, including those who are so fond of this application. When people praise Notion, they highlight the following features which are absolutely useless for me:

  • Plan what you are going to learn: I have 4 subjects to follow. All I have to do is to open my notes and continue from the place where I finished my studying yesterday. I do not need any database to remind me to study and what to study because this is basically my daily routine.
  • Your class schedule: after 3 weeks of attending lectures I've already memorized my schedule, so there is no need for any dedicated dashboard to find out where I have to be.
  • Grades and GPA: I have 7 exams per year. Calculation of my average grade is done in seconds on a calculator and my university has its own application, where all grades are tracked.
  • Project Deadlines: I am more exam-oriented than project-oriented in my studies, so I do not have multiple step-by-step projects that I need to keep track of.

I totally agree that Notion would be the saving grace of somebody working with 10 clients or anyone who as several meetings everyday. However, is having everything in one app really such a game-changer, or is it all just a fancy convenience?

Am I doing something wrong? Would love to hear from experienced users!

Are the problems with Notability Cloud now solved?

Hi everyone,
in the past months, I read many complaints about Notability Cloud through App Store reviews, this and other subreddits and elsewhere online. Though, it's been a while since I last heard about any issues with it, so I have been wondering if such problems were solved.

Thanks in advance for the replies
