Who do you think contributed more to Chloé's personality and her overall decline as a person?

Who do you think contributed more to Chloé's personality and her overall decline as a person?

Both of Chloé's parents seem to be instrumental in shaping her personality, how she acts, etc.

And when I mean decline, I am not talking physically, I am talking mentally, socially, morally, etc...

First, we have Chloé's mother, Audrey Bourgeois.

We learn that her mom abandons her in Despair Bear, and because of that, the first time we see her in person in Style Queen (Audrey), Chloé does everything in her power to get her mom to pay attention to her, since her mom rarely appears and gives her attention, even sabotaging a train to get her mom to notice her...

It is revealed in that episode that Audrey will notice Chloé if she is being mean like her, which is proven true at the end of the episode, or if she has true power over others (Revolution), and she only gets angry at Chloé when she loses that power.

Chloé's mean personality is encouraged by her mother, and her power-hungry actions are also encouraged, as she only shows affection to Chloé when she has power.

Next, we have Chloé's father, André Bourgeois.

What we know about Chloé's father is that he is similar to Veruca Salt's father in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he enables Chloé's demands, gives her everything she wants, and rarely, if ever, punishes her for it.

After Audrey abandons her, André ends up spoiling her to the point where her personality is also affected. She ends up not respecting her father because he puts no barriers on her actions, and with little consequences involved, she has no reason to change or care about what her father wants because nothing bad comes from how she acts and behaves...

While Chloé is more similar to her mother in her personality and how she acts, her father does enable her, even if he doesn't personally want bad things to happen. And, since her mother abandoned her and rarely visits her, most, if not all, throughout Chloé's life, André is responsible for her, and because he doesn't put restrictions on what she does, she can act out as much as she wants with no care in the world...

In the end, while Chloé is responsible for her own actions and how she treats people, the way her parents act around her, and what they allow her to do, contribute to how she is as a person, and how she eventually declines as a person from when she was a toddler to how she is as a teenager...

But what do you think?

Who contributed more to this decline, and why?

And if so, how do you think either of the parents could have prevented Chloé from becoming the full-fledged monster she is today? And why?

Explanations...

Most Favoured: Mike is obviously pretty favoured, given that he skips half the competition since Mal and Mike are two different personalities.

Geoff and Brody, while they did a nice thing for the Best Friends, are still obviously favoured by the narrative for basically skipping to the finale and both before that scene and after, by how they seem to have less adversity to go through compared to the Police Cadets.

Wayne, similar to Geoff and Brody, since he doesn't get involved in the main plot and is even bad at challenges, he is less able to get voted off in the game, and the finale by itself makes it pretty clear he's the most favoured.

Owen, again, similar to Wayne, while he does more in challenges, he's still not a part of the main plot, and he also gets majorly favoured in the finale against Gwen.

Zoey was also pretty clearly favoured not just by Mal, but by the writers, and she not only wins most challenges, but she also can avoid being voted out by, again, not being involved in the main plot, and just going through challenges while everyone likes her.

Favoured: Duncan is pretty favoured not only because he almost got voted off but didn't because Lindsay voted for herself, but also the final voting process in general. Duncan needs Owen's stink to remove Beth voters for him to win because he's so unlikable in the season compared to Beth.

Shawn is pretty favoured, while he does have a plot with Jasmine, not only does it not affect his challenge performance, it also doesn't affect how other see him, compared to how Sky acts towards Dave, which leads her to almost be voted out.

Cameron was also pretty favoured, both because he wins challenges sometimes through others' help, but also, the whole finale was designed for you to like Cameron and dislike Lightning. The only reason he isn't in the most favoured is that people at least identify that he's weak and mock him.

Jacques and Josee, it might be weird to see villains on this, but honestly, with the way the competition went, they were pretty favoured, they cheated in almost every opportunity, and they were barely given punishment, and when they did, they were still able to get their way out of being eliminated, it was too obvious they were there for the end, similar to...

Julia, who is given so much grace by the writers by how much she can lie despite already being proven to be untrustworthy in the previous season by the other contestants, is also given one of the least bad punishments for a villain in a finale, even better than Heather's, because at least she isn't bald!

The Cadets, also pretty favoured by how they avoid non-eliminations and how they, particularly Macarthur, are given less consequences for their actions and for her attitude compared to villains in other seasons...

50/50: Heather is favoured a bit in World Tour, particularly in the Amazon episode, but the thing is, everyone hates Heather, and even in the finale, everyone still hates Heather, and in her ending she loses her money, and gets a boulder thrown on top of her, and in Alejandro's ending she loses by throwing in the wrong dummy, the only saving grace of that is her kicking Alejandro in the nuts, but other than that, I would say she is less favoured than the ones above, more equally.

Alejandro is similar in that he's favoured in the competition because of his charm and sometimes plot armour, but then the finale comes and he's given the biggest punishment for doing, not the most evil actions...and obviously he is meant to be disliked and hated.

Caleb would be favoured if it weren't for the drama he gets put into, and even in the finale, he isn't given any friends who want him to win and not for Julia to lose. He does get to date Priya, so there's one upside to that.

Gwen, now Gwen can be favoured in terms of challenges, and I would put her in favour if it wasn't for the finale, Owen is so obviously the favourite by the writers that Gwen is dislikable by comparison, she even starts the episode bad mouthing all the other contestants, even ones she's barely ever spoken to, I have no idea if this can make Gwen more likable or just make her worse than Owen.

Priya is interesting because while I thought that she would be favoured, she does at least have problems to deal with with Millie and her notebook.

Beth is 50/50 because while she does get a boost in the merge by winning challenges compared to being just in the background in pre-merge, Duncan's ending makes it so that she was less liked by the writers than him because while she was nicer to people, she also could have lost by pure luck.

Bowie, again, while he is a villain, he gets a boyfriend who is liked by the audience; the only thing keeping him from being favoured is that he is meant to be disliked by the audience for the notebook thing, but he spends so much time being pretty likable that its less obvious than other villains.

Less Favoured: Sky is 100% less favoured than Shawn, and it's clear by how their plotlines end with their partners. Shawn realizes his mistake with Jasmine, and he apologizes; they kiss, and she helps him win. Sky is given a whole new reason for her, in that she cheats on her boyfriend with Dave, and then Dave finds out and refuses to help her, and even at the end, she throws a tantrum about things not being fair, and wins by pure luck (the same as Shawn, but at least he didn't throw a tantrum about losing). She at least got to be on the plane compared to Dave.

Millie, while having a character arc and problems, was never going to be a winner because of how much of the story focused on how she was bad at challenges and bad at the game, and the finale makes it so that she can never even get a chance to win because of how stressed she is and how Priya and Bowie beat her.

Least Favoured: Not only has Lightning retroactively become the final antagonist of the season, but he's also hated by everyone and even before the finale, he's disliked by everyone except Sam and Cameron, and compared to Alejandro, he's not winning challenges and being smart while doing them, and while a sympathetic backstory is revealed about him, he's still a jerk in the end and gets a painful punishment for his action, he also doesn't care about the other contestants in the finale against the monsters, if he did, than he would be less favoured, but as of now, he is meant to be the ultimate bully for Cameron to defeat.

Like, if Ladybug was proven to have lied about Gabriel being a hero because of Lila/Chrysalis, and there was 100% proof of that being the case, that doesn't mean people like Nathalie, Kagami, Felix, or Marinette lied to Adrien, at least from his perspective, if they wanted to keep themselves out of being the ones to hurt Adrien by lying to him, they could say they were led astray by Ladybug. It wasn't their intention to hurt Adrien by believing in it.

I wouldn't agree with it, but it would make sense if they wanted to avoid hurting Adrien and having him push himself away from them.

Also, if they did tell Adrien the truth, Adrien would realize that Ladybug would have to be pretty close to them to tell them something that would ruin her reputation if it were found out. He could be more suspicious of how close his girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, and relatives were to Ladybug and what they were doing for her to keep this secret, because I don't think just hurting his feelings would cut it.

I mean, Lady Chaos might be the biggest indication that Adrien thinks Marinette is helping Ladybug hide the truth since she was awkward and weird about Adrien's documentary about his father.

He could understand why they didn't tell the world because of the public's reaction to him being the son of a supervillain, but not telling him? I feel like he would want a better explanation than just Marinette not wanting to hurt him with the truth, and that's not even talking about the sentimonster/being part that they also haven't told him.

Adrien, while he doubts this because Gabriel was a terrible father, still has only Ladybug's word to go off. All of this started because Ladybug told a falsehood, and if it were ever to be uncovered, the most that would happen is that Ladybug's reputation as an honest superhero would be damaged, and people, particularly the public, would be less likely to trust her.

I am rewatching the series and just based on what we have seen, the previous Mayor is almost invincible in their decisions, and there is no big force able to stand up against them, except their own family.

Here are some things the previous Mayor was able to do...

Suspend students for irrational reasons.

Gives Alya the job of garbage disposal because of his daughter.

Attempts to have Marinette arrested for Chloé perceiving her as stealing her bracelet, and then he fires Roger for not arresting her.

Has attempted multiple times to cut funding towards the school for petty reasons, like the one above.

Gets a music production shut down because Chloé didn't get the part she wanted.

Shuts down a public ice rink to make a gym for Chloé.

Sent garbage into space despite the public protests against this.

Has shut down a student film project for Chloé.

Tries to destroy a public park to build a massive skyscraper, which purifies air and then can be sold in plastic bottles for more profit.

And then in season 5, Fire Damocles for not caving in to the demands of ruining the futures of the students from the sabotaged career forms that Chloé and Lila made.

And its not just this Mayor, the new one also had a problem.

According to Grendiaper, any conflicts regarding injustice are unable to be dealt with by the new Mayor, despite the old Mayor having so much power and authority because of the new rich kid's parents.

Which doesn't make much sense because even Audrey, who was extremely rich, was not able to make demands by herself only pressure her husband to do them which is why the Mayor was an extremely powerful position.

The Mayor also can't do anything against the bullies stealing a boat in the episode despite it being their job to do so, and I hold the Mayor more accountable for this because the Mayor can fire police officiers if they disobey their demands.

Based on all of this, I wonder if the Mayor in Miraculous can actually help fix any issues regarding injustice or if they purpose is just to be either corrupt and incompetent or kind and incompetent.

But what do you think?
