System Critical Hits

What do the critical hits do in ship combat? I know one of the loading screens say that a critical hit on the hull or crew has a chance of killing everyone aboard, but what about the others? Does it just damage the system more than a normal hit would?

Also, has anyone actually ever killed the crew with a critical hit before? Because in over 830+ hours I never have, what's the chances of it?

Help Starting to Mod

I would like to start making mods for Starfield, primarily messing with systems/gameplay mechanics. Are there any good tutorial videos out there that might teach the basics? And what do you use to mod the game, xEdit?

Landing at Hidden Locations

In Starfield there's a few locations hidden from the player until a specific mission, such as the NovaGalatic Base on the moon or the remains of Earth being marked on the planet by reading the book.

And while replaying the story and realizing that I needed a key to enter the NovaGalactic moon base, it made me wonder, could I have come across this without the mission, Unearthed? Why else would a key be assigned to the doors and given to the player?

Does anyone know if you can actually land on these spots without the POI from space or is it just game design that lends to the "locked door for a place you can never find until this point"?

Bought a Transpo III and added and removed some stuff, gave it better weaponry and engines. It's named after the Australian city, Adelaide.

Can you find the other LIST Family members from the quest? You can find Alban Lopez's settlement which is where the quest really starts, but do the other families like the Wens or Lemaires have settlements you can find, too?

I like the exploration of Starfield. I like the isolation and loneliness and barren moons and even planets. But, I will have to say, that I think Bethesda could have (and should in the future) made planets a bit more varied and interesting with how the landscape is formed.

I'm aware that the planets aren't exactly procedurally generated in the same way, say, Minecraft or No Man's Sky does it. Bethesda instead made tile maps and had them stitch each other to form the surface and all that.

But I do think that they could've gone further. Not every planet is flat, there are many with mountains, hills, etc. But compare landing on a random spot on Cassiopeia I to landing at the plateu where Sarah crashed, or the grove where the other shuttle crashed at. It's night and day. Or the canyons on Montara Luna with...the rest of Montara Luna.

These handcrafted sections are cool, but they ultimately do feel...out of place when you take a look around the handcrafted section and away from it, or even simply on the surface map and see flat planes or bumps as hills/mountains.

You'll never find a grove like the one on Cassiopeia I or canyons like on Montara Luna. It'd have been cool if Bethesda also made some tile maps that allowed these things to be formed and found outside of the singular handcrafted section for a quest.
