Building/Carving a 24' Wyvern

Building/Carving a 24' Wyvern

37 pieces of slabs, half rounds, and rounds of eastern pine. Joined with epoxy, 11" timber locks and wood dowels. 7 days in and doing joinery and figuring out textures. Customer wants color and it's modeled after Smaug so reds, maroons, black and gold. Amazing how the general public assumes everything is a bear or an eagle! Lol.

Fox and Skunks

6.5'x1.5'Catalpa log. They're sitting on a 38" diameter log. He's looking at the mother skunks tail and 3 little babies are peaking out the opposite side. Picking away at this one for fun.

Sasquatch [OC]

Eastern Pine, each arm is two pieces and secured with Gorilla glue and 2 11" log hogs at each seam. 80% chainsaw and 4" diameter power gouge mounted to a Stihl 170. Due grinder with 3 different sized Saburr Bits, all flame shaped. Chisels on the eyes. Burned with oxy-acetylene to clean up "furring"
From the tools and provide shading. I knock the char off with nylon brushes and use nylon wheels on a high speed drill to clean up the edges by the fur/skin. Some stains for color. Outlast Q8 log oil for protection. Took 3 coats. 5 Days of work. I don't sketch these out, I use a basic rule of 8 for "human"
form (head is one unit, distance to nipple a 2nd unit, distance to naval 3rd, etc) but make arms a little longer, bigger hands and feet.

32’ Wyvern

Jake and I created this from trees destined to be mulched. We both have a “no cut to carve” policy and only use trees cut down by tree services, towns, and power companies. 30+ pieces of wood used. Delivered and assembled to a private residence.
