Hi guys! How did you land your first VA client?

Hi guys! How did you land your first VA client?

I’ve been looking for a VA client for months now, and honestly, I’m starting to wonder what I might be doing wrong.

I do have work experience, but most of it is from local accounts here in the Philippines. I have around 9 years of experience in sales, including B2C and B2B, but I’m finding it difficult to get my first international VA client.

I’m also comfortable with computers, I learn quickly, and I’ve handled social media management for a small business page before. Since I started looking for VA work, I’ve been intentionally upskilling as well. I’ve learned the basics of Shopify, including product listing, organizing products, collections, and building a Shopify store.

I’m mainly looking for non-voice roles such as Shopify VA, e-commerce support, admin work, data entry, lead generation, or social media management. I’m also open to working US hours.

For those who already landed their first VA client:

How did you get your first client?
Did you use Upwork, OnlineJobs.ph, Facebook groups, Reddit, LinkedIn, or direct outreach?

And if you were starting over with my background, what would you focus on first?

I’d really appreciate any honest advice, especially from people who were also struggling to get their first client. Thank you!

PLDT internet outage since September 19 and this is the rebate I got?

I’m honestly so frustrated with PLDT right now.
Our internet connection started becoming intermittent/unusable around September 19. I filed a ticket on September 21 because the connection was already affecting our daily activities, especially our work.
Then, without me realizing it, PLDT closed the ticket on September 28, claiming that the internet connection was already okay.
It was NOT okay.
I only noticed that the ticket had been closed the next day, September 29, so I immediately filed another ticket. Today is already October 2, and guess what? Still no proper resolution.
At this point, I already had to get a prepaid Globe Fiber connection just so my sibling and I could actually work. I haven’t even been bombarding PLDT with follow-ups because I was already trying to find another way to get us online and continue working.
Then today, I checked the previous ticket and saw that my rebate request was actually granted.
Okay, great. But here’s my question:
My monthly bill is ₱1,399, and the rebate they gave me was only ₱256.25, bringing the bill down to ₱1,142.75.
Is that really fair?
The rebate coverage was only for September 21–28, because that’s the period covered by the first ticket.
But our internet problems started as early as September 19, and even after September 28, the problem still wasn’t fixed. I had to file another ticket on September 29, and as of October 2, we’re still dealing with the same issue.
And that’s not even counting the additional expenses we had to make just to stay connected—getting another internet provider installed and buying loads/top-ups because we still need internet for work.
My sibling and I haven’t been able to work properly because of this. We’re losing time, productivity, and money because of an internet service that we’re paying for every month.
So PLDT, I really want to ask:
How is ₱256.25 supposed to compensate for all the days without reliable internet, the additional expenses we had to make, and the disruption to our work?
And what makes this even more frustrating is that the first ticket was simply closed as “resolved” even though the problem was clearly NOT resolved.
Now I have a second ticket, and I’m still waiting.
I’m not asking for special treatment. I just want the service we’re paying for, and if the service wasn’t provided properly, I expect a fair and reasonable rebate based on the actual period of service disruption—not simply based on when PLDT decided to close a ticket.
At this point, my frustration is just piling up.
PLDT, please do better.

PLDT Made Us Switch After 8 Days Without Internet 😭

Out of frustration with PLDT because we’ve been without internet for 8 days, we had no choice but to buy a DITO prepaid WiFi from Shopee. It was around ₱500+ and plug-and-play, so it was convenient enough. The signal was actually okay, but the 40GB only lasted us 3 days because we had to rely on mobile data for everything.
So last night, we decided to get Globe Prepaid WiFi from their website. It was on promo from ₱1,499 down to ₱699. The installation was supposed to be on Tuesday, but they actually installed it this morning—and we were surprised to get 300 Mbps. 😭
For ₱699, we also get unli internet for 7 days. After that, it’s ₱999 for 30 days of unli internet.
So, PLDT, thank you for making us spend extra money just because you couldn’t restore our connection for 8 days. 😂 But at least you made our decision easy.
We’re definitely not renewing with you. After 8 days without internet, we’re done. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has anyone here successfully requested a rebate from PLDT?

How did you do it, and what documents or requirements did you need to provide?
Also, do I need to wait until the internet issue is completely resolved before requesting a rebate, or can I already request one while the service is still down?
My billing date is every 1st of the month, so I’m worried the rebate might not be processed in time and the affected days will still be included in my upcoming bill.
Any tips or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

PLDT Internet Outage in Pasig — Anyone Else Experiencing This?

Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask if anyone here is experiencing the same issue with PLDT, particularly in the Pasig area.
We’ve been without internet for almost a week now. I’ve been following up with PLDT Cares through Messenger almost every day, but so far, it’s just been repeated follow-ups and the usual responses, with no concrete resolution or clear timeline on when the issue will be fixed.
Anyone else in Pasig experiencing the same problem? If you’ve gone through something similar with PLDT, what did you do to get the issue properly resolved?
Would really appreciate any advice. Thank you!
