How to mask stainless steel for polishing?
I have a fully brushed stainless steel watch case and I would like to add some polishing along a beveled edge. How should I mask off the areas that I want to stay brushed? Is tape sufficient/is there a specific kind of tape that I should use? I plan on doing the polishing by hand with a Cape cod cloth.
Nh35 hands wobble/lurch when setting time
This is a Seiko mod I'm working on. No need to tell me that the date window is misaligned I'm well aware.

As you should be able to see in the video the second and minute hands lurch forward and then kind of settle back when setting the time by turning the crown counter-clockwise. Clockwise function appears normal. I've built with the nh35 a few times and never noticed this before. This is the first time I've ever used used it flipped with the crown at 3 o'clock so I wonder if it has something to do with that?

It's not too much of a nuisance I just wanted to make sure it isn't a symptom of a deeper issue that could cause other malfunctions in the movement. Any help or insight is appreciated.

Thanks!
PS: the movement was purchased directly from Namokimods
Praise for Seiko's VH and VK movements

(right) A vk67 Nivada Grenchen Chronosport

I can't say enough how impressed I am with Seiko's "mechaquartz" movements. The watch on the left has not been set since I completed the build a little over a month ago and the watch on the right hasn't been set since I received it over three months ago. Compare them to the G-Shock (radio controlled) and you will see that both of these movements are far outperforming their advertised +/- 15 sec/month stats.

People mention the 2-3 year battery life as though that is some kind of massive handicap but seriously how much of a hassle is changing an (extremely inexpensive) battery every 3 years VS servicing a mechanical movement every 5-6 years.

My only wish is that companies that service the Seiko-modding community would take more notice of the hardship that the massive spike in NH movement prices has imposed on their consumer base and start offering more options for mechaquartz builds. Particularly the vk family of chronograph movements. There is almost no variety available to people that want to build with those movements but there is no shortage of iconic chronograph designs to homage. I would love to be able to build my own El Primero or Sinn 356 but the parts just don't exist for me to buy.

I'm sure others in the community feel the same - I hope the powers that be take notice.

cmon man
It's on a rubber strap dude there's no excuse for this
Modified BluShark velco strap for my GW-BX5600
Had to cut about 1.5 inches off of the strap and reattach the male velcro strip using ShoeGoo and nylon thread. The very long lug to lug on this case made the strap way too long for my 7" wrist. Cleaned up the edges as best as I could with a lighter. Kind of a sloppy job but it's very solid and I find this strap more comfortable and practical than the one it came on.
