Housing advice for incoming JUMC/Kraków student

Hi everyone,
I was recently accepted at Jagiellonian University Medical College and am trying to figure out the best housing option for first year.
I am an international student but fluently Polish-speaking, and I am deciding between residence and renting a furnished one-bedroom apartment. My main priority is being reasonably close to the first- and second-year teaching buildings, while still having easy access to groceries, transit, and the city.
For current or former students:

Are the dorms a good option for first-year English-program students? Which residences are best, and what are the rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and overall atmosphere like?

Which neighbourhoods are best for students who choose to rent instead?

Are first- and second-year classes mostly in one area, or will students be travelling between buildings often?

What are the best places to look for housing, and are there any scams or areas to avoid?

Any practical advice, especially from students who have lived in residence or rented privately, would be really appreciated. Feel free to comment or message me privately. Thank you

Accepted to JUMC/Kraków Medical as a Canadian student — hoping to connect with current students or recent alumni

Hello everyone!

I recently got accepted into JUMC in the English program. I would be very grateful for any tips, opinions, or advice current or past students would be willing to share about the university, support and resources, and housing advice. Thank you :)

Are the dorms a good option for first-year English-program students? Which residences are best, and what are the rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and overall atmosphere like?

Is it difficult to get a single room, and when should incoming students apply?

Which neighbourhoods are best for students who choose to rent instead?

Are first- and second-year classes mostly in one area, or will students be travelling between buildings often?

What is a realistic budget for a furnished one-bedroom apartment, including utilities?

What are the best places to look for housing, and are there any scams or areas to avoid?
