Repair advice needed

Hi my Comfee 9000btu unit sounded weird when the compressor started and smelled a bit( might be because it is new). Depending on where I pressed on the housing the sound disappeared. So I knew that something touched that isn't supposed to touch. I opened the unit and found a melted plastic. The sound also seems to come from that region. Should I replace it or just rearrange it?

Did I receive a defective unit?

I bought a Comfee 9000btu from Amazon and it has a really annoying clattering sound that disappears when I apply a lot of pressure on the top (front area). Did I receive a defective unit or can I change something in my setup to make it work?
