How did you successfully leave tech?

I've been a software engineer for eight years, and have been in tech for 10 years.

I don't have FU money because, while I am well-paid now, only a couple of those years were in the USA (I am American but I lived abroad for much of my 20's). Inflated tech salaries are mainly a USA thing.

Anyway, I digress. I don't find tech enjoyable at all anymore. It feels soulless. I actually work for a startup with an "ethical" mission, which puts me in a slightly better place than the majority of tech, but fundamentally it still has that same empty feeling.

I don't intend to make any rapid change that will jeopardize my job, but I do want to start brainstorming about how to eventually move away from this industry and do something more human. If you managed to pivot away from tech into something more fulfilling, or you know someone who did, I want to hear how.

Allergic reaction any time I handle flower

Any time I handle flower, fumble around with it, grind it, and pack a bowl with it, I become extremely congested and I start sneezing all over the place. If I happen to touch my eye, my eye gets swollen and puffy.

If I smoke a pre-rolled joint, I have zero issues whatsoever. Same for edibles.

This allergic reaction has been getting worse in the past year or two. It's never been this bad. I'm 33 and I've been smoking weed on and off for literally 20 years. This *never* used to happen. I never had an allergic reaction pre-legalization (or anytime I handle flower somewhere overseas where it's still not legal)

Maybe my body changed, but I feel like it's more likely that the weed is just different now. Something about terpenes. Anyone else have experience with this? Any advice?

I have always been on the left, but before 2023 I was relatively lukewarm about it (compared to now). A lot of dots didn't fully connect for me until the live-streamed genocide in Gaza. And I must admit that if it had not been for Instagram, I would have not gotten as detailed of a view of it as I did.

Fast forward to today, and I continue to hear about current events and movements via independent journalists and other leftist accounts on Instagram. I'm not proud of this and I don't want to be on that dumpster fire of an app anymore, but I also don't want to tune out what's happening.

Reddit is okay but it's pretty heavily censored too, and it's increasingly becoming prone to slop. I want to know what outlets you all use to stay informed. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong subs.

I know Zeteo and Ground News are good.

I would delete my Strava, but I still need it for one thing. I want to see my weekly mileage. Not a rolling 7-day window, but rather the mileage of this actual calendar week, and the week before that, and so on.

It blows my mind that Garmin Connect can't do this. Unless it can? Am I missing something?
