I find the advice "just go to a dog show!" that I see frequently given to prospective dog owners somewhat frustrating.

In theory, attending a dog show absolutely does seem like a logical thing to do! See some different breeds! Connect with people!!

In practice, I feel like it's actually a lot trickier than people make it seem. Figuring out where or how to find upcoming shows is not very intuitive or clear, and there may or may not even be a show happening within a reasonable traveling radius that features the breed you're interested in anytime within the next several months.

I understand that finding the right dog takes patience and planning, but people toss around "just go to a dog show!" so casually, as if they're saying "just go to a grocery store!"

Hello! I am on the hunt for the American Girl "K" reissue, but since it was limited edition from several years ago and there were only 2,000 of them made, I haven't been able to find one anywhere. If anyone has any tips on where to find one, please let me know!

(I know they reissued the American Girl "M" in silver, but I'd really like to get the gold version)

I started seriously looking into getting a puppy in late March and I feel like I am losing my MIND.

Between the waiting for dogs to come into season, the not knowing where I might be on the waitlist, the feeling like I have to keep pestering people because communication is unclear and inconsistent, I am about to go full Glenn Close in 101 Dalmations!!

Calling all car-free dog-owning urbanites! What do you use to safely travel by taxi/rideshare with your pup? I don't live in NYC, but I figured if anyone would have some solid recommendations it would be New Yorkers!

If the stars align, I'll be bringing home an English Setter puppy in the early fall. I don't drive or have a car, so I would love any recommendations for a carrier/crate/harness/whatever that will keep my pup safe in the unlikely event of a car accident but will also be fast and easy to get in and out of a rideshare or taxi. Thanks!
