Huge Respect to KCET Toolkit Team — But Are 150+ Numbers Inflated?
Honestly, huge appreciation to the folks u/azalea**.** and u/brinter for building:

The effort they’ve put into estimating the number of students above each score range is genuinely impressive. Scanning and analyzing thousands of OMRs manually is definitely not a small task.
That said, does anyone else feel like the current listings might be slightly overestimating the number of very high scorers?
I’m mainly talking about the 145+, 150+, and 155+ ranges. The numbers feel a bit inflated considering:
- the overall difficulty level of KCET this year,
- general student reactions after the exam,
- and the fact that this paper was considered tougher than usual by many.
I know they’ve mentioned that they scanned all submitted OMRs, but I’m wondering if there could still be some sampling bias involved — like:
- duplicate submissions,
- or OMR reading errors
While the data overall looks realistic, I personally find it a little hard to believe that 1800+ students scored 150+ in what many are calling a historically tough paper.
Especially because most other online predictors/resources (even though they’re often inconsistent and confusing) estimate something closer to 700–800 students above 150 or 155.
Not trying to discredit the websites at all — honestly, they’re probably the best publicly available data source right now. I just wanted to know whether anyone else feels the same after comparing this year’s paper difficulty with previous years.
Would love to hear opinions, especially from people who actually wrote KCET this year.
