Camp Miasma Little Death mask made out of cardboard

I attended an outdoor preview screening of Teenage S*x and Death at Camp Miasma yesterday. I only came up with the idea to make the killer's mask the night before so I had to execute the whole thing yesterday in about 5-6 hours from construction to painting. It's made entirely of cardboard and was a pretty big hit at the showing. 🤗

Various silly little stamps

Made some stamps over the weekend, trying to loosen up both in terms of sketching and carving. I'm very happy with the slug, the hiking rat and the Sylvanian cat. My partner got me a bunch of ink pads last week, so I really enjoyed experimenting with the colours, too.

Edinburgh barricade questions

I'm seeing Florence on 24 August in Edinburgh and this is a very big deal for me - I had a particularly rough year with financial hardship that only eased very recently and I struggled with my mental health due to work related stress. This will be only the second time I see the band, the last time being in 2018 during a phase in my life when I couldn't truly appreciate the experience.

All that is to say, I am really really keen on getting barricade, if at all possible. I understand that gates open at 5pm and that the front standing area will be "first come first served" so arriving early is advised. I am willing to torture my achy 41 year old joints for this experience, so I have a couple of questions related to this:

  1. How early is early? 2pm? 10am? Just a ballpark would be helpful...

  2. Has anyone been to other shows at the Edinburgh Royal Showgrounds? I'm wondering which gate would be best for entry to get close to the front? I can't really run so if there's more than a 10 minute walk from gate to the stage, I will definitely lose out to the more athletic among us. 😂

  3. the website mentions wristbands to allow priority re-entry so one can leave for food/drink/loo - how does this work in terms of keeping your place at barricade/on the front? I will go with my partner, but we are both neurodivergent so tend to prefer to stick together if at all possible. Would the only solution be to leave one of us behind to "guard" our spot while the other takes care of the keeping alive business?

  4. This is a more abstract question, but I'm just wondering - how likely it is actually to get barricade at a big festival show like this? I reckon that it's even harder than at a regular tour show so I guess, I just want to manage my expectations and not set myself up for total disappointment.

Any and all responses, tips or ideas are appreciated and thank you for reading!

Reserving parking space

UPDATE:

Thank you so so much to everyone who responded - to the informative ones and the ones that made me chuckle! 😂

A friend who has parking permits, a suitable inside space for the lizards and a parking spot in front of his flat has offered to help out so I decided to change the venue for the experience as this seems like the most straight-forward solution.

Thank you again, I didn't think I will receive this many responses, so I really do appreciate you all!

Hello there,

I'm trying to plan a surprise hands-on lizard experience for my partner's 40th but I'm running into an issue with parking space. The provider of the experience requires parking right outside our flat, but we live on a residential street so I'm not sure how to go about ensuring this on the day (12 August).

I don't drive or have a car and I checked that legally I cannot reserve a parking space on a residential street. They would need to park for about 90 minutes, so it's not an all day kinda thing, but I'm kinda out of ideas other than standing around suspiciously in an empty spot until the "entertainment" arrives.

Does anyone have any ideas and/or experience in figuring something like this out? I think there are a good 7-8 spots that would be suitably close to our door, but they tend to be taken in the afternoon when the experience is planned for from what I observed in the last couple of days.

Thank you!

Made a FatM keyring for myself

I've made this cool little keychain for myself - wood base, covered in red handmade paper, logo painted with pearlescent acrylics, lace added to the trims and then spray varnished it all. It's more sparkly and shiny IRL than what comes across on the picture. Very happy with the result. 🤗

Looking for help with image credit

Hey there everyone!

I'm looking for the person who took this picture (or at least the person who first posted it online) to be able to give image credit when I'm posting my art based on it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have tried a couple of image search tools but couldn't find this exact image (Google seems to think that it's from the Ninch Inch Noize 2026 Coachella set 🤦)

Thank you! 🤗

one of the greats (fanart)

colour pencils and soft pastels on black drawing paper based on Steve Carter's photography of Florence Welch and the Witch Choir from the Everybody Scream tour

I didn't get tickets to any of the London shows and couldn't make it anywhere else, so I've been going through the most intense FOMO for the last 3 months and been counting down the days till Edinburgh. I've eased the yearning with listening to Florence and drawing this piece. I hope you all will like it! 🤗
