Groomed just in time for it to rain all weekend

Puffball to curly lambchop by tomorrow. It kills me when she gets curly so quickly, but she loves her walks no matter the weather.

In store 75% off sets & EDP

Perfume $17.48, large gift sets $9.74, mini gifts $4.99.

These will make great gifts. Perfumes tend to give me headaches (I’m a shower gel/body cream collector) but I couldn’t pass these up for gifting.

Laundry “helper”

Charlie’s way of helping me fold laundry.

(I should clarify Charlie’s full name is Charlotte. AKC registered as ‘Princess Charlotte of Autumn Court’. We confuse most people who think because her name is Charlie she’s a boy.)

1st bath/ceramic graphene coating

8 hours over 2 days. My husband and I double-washed/decontaminated his SQ5, my 2 week old X-line SXP HEV and our 17 year old’s Taos. I coated their cars yesterday morning and tried to beat the heat coating mine today.

The coating took 3 hours for the Telluride (it’s a beast). I did the other 2 cars yesterday in the same amount of time.

I found one tiny defect in the paint of the hood but overall the paint was in great condition.

It was a lot of work and I’m happy to be done.

The debate is over

After much debate, I picked up our new Black Jade Green X-line SX Prestige Hybrid.

I originally wanted a Wolf Grey SXP executive with the blackberry interior.

When the VIN was decommissioned, I switched to a non-X line Wolf Grey SXP with an all black interior . I got a call Thursday that the delivery was pushed back 10 days. I had planned on getting a car this weekend (main factor was my previous vehicle’s warranty expiring).

Originally, I wanted to avoid the 21” wheels and liked the look of lighter color non-X line vehicles. However, I really didn’t want an all black interior. The dealer had just gotten in this vehicle with the Black/Millstone interior. It felt like this was the color combination I should have picked from the beginning. I love it.

I got a great deal but the pickup at the dealership was less than ideal. I had emailed a few times after I placed my deposit last month asking if I could talk to finance ahead of time to streamline the process. Of course I didn’t get a response. When I talked to the salesperson to schedule the pick up for today, I reminded him that it was a four hour round trip and we’d like to be there as short a time as possible.

When we arrived, he walked us around our car, had us sign the initial purchase agreement and set up Kia Connect. We then sat for 90 minutes 😡 waiting for finance to be told every 15 minutes or so that “he’d be out soon”. The salesperson left us sitting there for 90 minutes while he sold a used Cadillac sedan.

Once we got into finance, we were shown paperwork with a 7.99% finance rate, not the advertised 3.99%. We hadn’t even wanted to finance it the first place - we were offered a significant discount (hence the 2 hour drive each way) if we financed and paid it off after 3 months. My husband said we aren’t financing at 8% and asked for my Audi keys back. He was ready to walk. The guy then changed his tune, “since you have perfect credit, we’ll accept a personal check even though you are out of state”. We wrote the check, signed the paperwork and left.

The salesperson didn’t show us anything at all about the vehicle (which would have been an appropriate use of the 90 minutes we spent basically waiting to write a check).

I love the vehicle so far but as others warned me the dealership experience was awful.

I got a text (addressed to my last name only) from the salesperson congratulating me on my purchase and asking to give him a “10 and great feedback” when I received my satisfaction survey. My standards must be too high 🤷‍♀️. I will just ignore the survey. I know they’ll get penalized for surveys that aren’t 10s but there’s no way that sitting there for nothing is a 10/10 experience.

Rant over 😂.

Discount - 10/10 ($2k off MSRP, no add ons)

Dealership experience 5/10 - they were upfront about pricing, no dealer installed add ons and we did most correspondence over text/e-mail. I spent less than 10 minutes on the phone in 3 separate calls. Their pricing was way more competitive than closer dealerships. It fell apart at the end with the surprise finance rate and zero respect for our time. (The texts/calls were all with the sales manager - the sales person only interacted with us today).

Hybrid owners do you unplug USB cables?

I am reading the owner’s manual before I take delivery this weekend (hoping to spend as short a time as possible in the dealership).

The manual advises to unplug USB cables after use as they can discharge the 12v battery if left plugged in.

I will have to make sure passengers unplug the cables on road trips.

I knew about the digital key causing issues with draining the 12v so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about USB cables.

Convince me I’m not making a mistake

I’m not sure what rabbit hole I went down, but I am supposed to take delivery of a 27 SXP Hybrid this week and am second guessing my choice.

I usually keep vehicles 4-6 years. I don’t anticipate getting to 100k miles, probably 80k at the most.

I loved the blind spot camera, ambient lighting, massage seat and extra space compared to my Audi. My husband isn’t super excited about me leaving a luxury brand and thinks I am inviting headaches. Audi isn’t a beacon of reliability but we’ve had good experiences overall with them for the past 10 years.

My youngest will be going to college next summer, so I think a mass market brand makes sense. The Telluride Hybrid offers a great mix of features and fuel economy. I’m just getting anxious about the “what ifs”? I had to switch off my preferred interior (whole Blackberrry executive package debacle) and am questioning my decision.

Please tell me what you love about your Telluride.

Blackberry/sand Executive Package “Decomissioned”

I was so excited to have reserved an SXP with the purple interior. The interior videos are what converted me to wanting a 27 Telluride. The dealer called to tell me the VINs for all SXPs with the executive package have been decommissioned.

It makes sense that on Kia’s inventory search the SXP executive package is not searchable. You can only search for X-line SXP executive packages. So it doesn’t seem like they scrapped the executive package entirely, just the purple that comes with the non-X line.

I assume the folding seat recall had something to do with it, but they are still offering the X-line executive so it is not across the board.

It is crazy that all the press vehicles were optioned with the blackberry interior, which created interest and now it’s not going to be available.

I’m wresting with the all black interior. I definitely don’t want the navy/tuscan umber which is the only other available interior for the SXP. I’m thinking that if the ambient lighting is really bright it might break up some of the black. I’m having a hard time moving on from the purple. (My husband hated it, but it wasn’t going to be his vehicle anyway). If the saddle was available I’d have wanted that with the Dark Jade Green.

Just an update for anyone else who wanted a light (and purple) interior.
